"TAKE NO THOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

I WAS READING MATTHEW 6 AND IN VERSES 25 IT TALKS ABOUT NOT THINKING ABOUT OUR LIVES OR THE THINGS WE NEED TO SURVIVE.  (MATTHEW 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?)  I WONDERED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE HOW COULD WE NOT THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS.  JESUS, HIMSELF, THOUGHT ABOUT PAYING HIS TAXES.  MATTHEW 17:27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.)  WHY WOULD JESUS TELL US TO "TAKE NO THOUGHT" OF THESE THINGS.

THE ANSWER LIES IN WHAT THE WORD "THOUGHT" OR THE GREEK WORD "MERIMNAO", WHICH WAS USED HERE MEANS.   IT MEANS "TO BE ANXIOUS OR CAREFUL".  WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO WORRY OR BE PREOCCUPIED WITH THINKING ABOUT OUR NEEDS.  THE BIBLE SAYS GOD KNOWS OUR NEEDS BEFORE WE EVEN ASK HIM.  IF WE DO BECOME PREOCCUPIED WITH ALL THE THINGS WE NEED, THEN WE CANNOT FULLY GIVE GOD THE TIME HE DESERVES. THIS, IN TURN, TAKES AWAY FROM HAVING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.

JESUS TELLS US IN MATTHEW 6:19-21 TO "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."  I WANT MY HEART TO BE IN HEAVEN, HOW ABOUT YOU?  HE ALSO SAYS IN LUKE 12:31 "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."  LET'S SEEK HIM, NOT JUST BECAUSE ALL OF THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED, BUT JUST BECAUSE WE LOVE HIM.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

SAYS IN LUKE 12:31 "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."

I agree David but we should not think to ADD MORE SIN. As this world is LOST and SWIMMING in sin. When a student goes to school they have to take thought as to what courses they take and map out a future. Hopefully the course is not one that will lead to a career of sin, instead a repented life of righteousness submitted to GOD'S WILL is the better course of action and not our own will. The world's WILL is that we swim in sin, because it's deeds are clearly wicked. And it likes company. Birds of a feature what? Enjoy sins together.

THE DOOR IS NARROW that leads to life and BROAD that leads to destruction.

People turn your life to Christ because you may gain the worlds admiration but end up separated from GOD.

Your wicked friends did not give their lives for you but CHRIST DID!

We have to hold them sinful thought captive and think to follow CHRIST!
