"THE ARMOUR OF GOD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

IN EPHESIANS 6, IT TALKS ABOUT PUTTING ON THE ARMOUR OF GOD.  I BELIEVE THAT IS A PRACTICE ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY PARENTS, SHOULD DO EVERY MORNING.  I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS AND AS I PUT ON EACH PIECE, I VISUALIZE THAT PIECE IN MY MIND AND PUT IN ON EACH CHILD, MY WIFE AND MYSELF.  JUST RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN IMPRESSED TO INCLUDE THE ORPHANS AND WIDOWS.  I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR THEM FOR YEARS BUT AFTER READING JAMES 1:27, I THOUGHT ABOUT PUTTING THE ARMOUR ON THEM AND THE ONES WHO ARE TAKING CARE OF THEM.  JAMES 1:27 SAYS "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

EPHESIANS 6:10-12 SAYS "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."  THERE IS A LOT OF BAD STUFF OUT THERE AND THE MORE PROTECTION WE HAVE THE STRONGER WE WILL BE IN THE LORD.  ISAIAH 40:31 ALSO TALKS ABOUT BEING STRONG BUT IS SAYS TO RENEW YOUR STRENGTH.  IT SAYS "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

WHEN I READ THAT VERSE I LOOK AT THE WORD "WAIT".   WHEN IT SAYS "WAIT" UPON THE LORD, I HAVE HEARD SOME PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT SITTING AROUND AND WAITING TO SEE WHAT GOD IS GOING TO DO.  WELL, "WAIT" HAS A LOT OF DIFFERENT MEANINGS AND I CHOSE TO USE THE VERB PHRASE AND THAT DEFINITION MEANS: To be ready to serve; to obey.  I WANT THIS TO BE ME, SERVE AND OBEY.  HOW ABOUT YOU?

I BELIEVE IT MAKES MORE SENSE TO USE THAT DEFINITION AND NOT TO JUST SIT AROUND WAITING.  WHEN JOSHUA WAS LEADING THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL AND TOLD THE PRIEST TO TAKE THE ARK AND CROSS THE JORDAN.  THE WATER DID NOT PART UNTIL THEY STEPPED INTO THE WATER.  I'M NOT SURE THE WATERS WOULD HAVE PARTED IF THEY HAD WAITED TO STEP ON DRY LAND.  "JOSHUA 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordanthat the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap."

SO LETS GET UP AND DO SOMETHING FOR GOD BUT DON'T FORGET HIS ARMOR.  WE NEED TO BE READY TO SERVE AND OBEY BUT WE ALSO NEED TO BE PROTECTED.  HE HAS GIVEN IT TO US SO LET'S USE IT.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
