"LISTEN TO WHAT GOD HAS TO SAY" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN A TEST AND THE TEACHER GAVE YOU THE ANSWERS BEFOREHAND? THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT GOD DID FOR THE ISRAELITES WHEN HE GAVE THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT TO MOSES IN THE LAND OF MOAB. DEUTERONOMY 30:19 SAYS "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live." HE TELLS THEM TO CHOOSE LIFE AND GOES ON TO TELL THEM "HE IS THAT LIFE". EVEN WITH KNOWING THE ANSWER, SOME OF THEM DID NOT CHOOSE LIFE.
IT REMINDS ME OF WHEN JESUS WAS TELLING THE DISCIPLES THAT HE WAS GOING TO GO AND PREPARE A PLACE FOR THEM IN JOHN 14:4, "And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know." AFTER ALL THAT JESUS HAD EXPLAINED TO THEM OVER THE THREE YEARS, GOOD OLD "DOUBTING THOMAS" SAID, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?" JESUS SAID TO HIM AGAIN, " I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." IT IS THE SAME WAY NOW, PEOPLE WILL JUST NOT TAKE ENOUGH INTEREST IN JESUS TO HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY.
I KNOW I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP BEFORE BUT I AM TRYING TO MAKE A POINT. THIS WAS NOT THE ONLY TIME THE DISCIPLES DIDN'T LISTEN TO JESUS. HE TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO LISTEN. LOOK WHAT LUKE 18:32-34 SAYS "For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken." EVEN THE TOMB KEEPER KNEW WHAT JESUS SAID. LOOK WHAT HE SAID IN MATTHEW 27:63 "Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again." THE REASON I SAY THAT ABOUT JESUS' DISCIPLES IS THAT, DON'T YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE TOMB IF THEY HAD KNOWN HE WAS GOING TO RISE AGAIN?
SO, IF GOD IS GIVING YOU A TEST AND YOU KNOW THE ANSWERS ARE IN HIS WORD, DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO READ THE BIBLE AND KNOW THE ANSWERS? NOT KNOWING COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. THE BIBLE IS A VERY INTERESTING BOOK AND VERY REWARDING. IT IS GOD'S WORD AND THE WAY HE TALKS TO US. WE ALL NEED TO DO IS LISTEN TO WHAT HE HAS TO SAY. JUST TRY IT.
