"WHO ARE YOU SERVING?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
DO YOU THINK WE NEED TO KNOW GOD'S WORD TO PROTECT US FROM SICKNESS OR ANYTHING ELSE? SURE WE DO. MATTHEW 10:8 SAYS "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." IF WE DIDN'T KNOW THAT THIS IS ONE OF GOD'S COMMANDMENTS, HOW WOULD WE KNOW TO OBEY IT? JESUS ALSO SAYS IN MATTHEW 16:18 THAT WE "shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." AGAIN, WHAT IF WE DIDN'T KNOW THIS? AND ANOTHER THING, IT DOESN'T SAY WE CAN'T LAY HANDS ON OURSELVES AND IT DOESN'T SAY THAT JESUS WILL DO IT EITHER. HE TELLS US TO DO IT. I KNOW THE HEALING IS THROUGH HIM BUT HE TELLS US TO DO IT. HE HAS GIVEN US THE POWER IF WE WILL JUST USE IT. HOWEVER, HOW CAN WE USE IT IF WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT? HOW ELSE CAN WE DEFEAT THE DEVIL? WE HAVE TO KNOW GOD'S WORD.
LOOK HOW JESUS DID IT WHEN HE WAS TEMPTED BY SATAN. HE CALLED ON GOD'S WORD FOUR TIMES AND SAID "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." "It is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone." :It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." IF JESUS CALLED ON GOD'S WORD, WHY SHOULDN'T WE, BUT WE HAVE TO KNOW IT.
GOD'S WORD IS POWERFUL. LOOK WHAT PAUL SAYS ABOUT IT IN HEBREWS 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. I WOULD SAY THAT IS PRETTY POWERFUL.
WE CAN'T USE GOD'S SWORD OF THE SPIRIT UNLESS WE STUDY HIS WORD AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT. ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO DON'T STUDY THE WORD OR TRUST IN HIM OR USE HIS POWERS? LET ME ASK YOU THIS, ARE YOU IN GOOD HEALTH, HAVE NO FINANCIAL PROBLEMS, ARE HAPPY AND THINGS ARE GOING YOUR WAY? YOU MIGHT THINK ALL OF THIS IS FROM GOD BUT IF YOU ARE NOT SEEKING HIM FIRST, HOW COULD IT BE.
JESUS SAYS IN MATTHEW 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." YOU AND SATAN JUST MIGHT BE TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AND HE DOESN'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GIVING HIM ANY REASON TO DO ANYTHING TO YOU. HE PROBABLY THINKS YOU ARE ON HIS SIDE. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THE TIDE WILL TURN AND WHEN IT DOES, LOOK OUT. JESUS WARNS US ABOUT THIS IN JOHN 10:10 WHEN HE SAID "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." YOU MIGHT BE TAKING THIS PASSAGE THE WRONG WAY AND THINK THAT GOD IS GIVING YOU ALL OF YOUR ABUNDANCE. HE WILL IF YOU TRUST HIM BUT YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS AS IT SAYS IN MATTHEW 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. WHO ARE YOU SERVING?
