"YOUR PRAYERS MIGHT BE HINDERED" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
I WAS READING IN ACTS 13 AND WHEN I GOT TO WHERE SAUL AND BARNABAS WERE TRYING TO BRING THE WORD OF GOD TO THE PEOPLE ON THE ISLE OF PAPHOS AND A FALSE PROPHET WAS HINDERING THEM, IT REMINDED ME OF WHEN DANIEL WAS PRAYING AND HE WAS HINDERED BY SATAN FROM GETTING HIS PRAYERS ANSWERED. THIS IS JUST ABOUT THE SAME THING BECAUSE SATAN WAS USING ELYMAS, THE SORCERER, THE SAME WAY. SATAN WILL DO EVERY THING IN HIS POWER TO STOP THE POWER OF GOD IN OUR LIVES. I WAS JUST GOING TO GIVE YOU THE CHAPTERS AND VERSES BUT I THOUGH I WOULD JUST QUOTE THEM BELOW SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT I MEAN.
FIRST IS DANIEL 10:11-14 WHERE IT SAYS "He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia." ALTHOUGH DANIELS PRAYER WAS HEARD BY GOD RIGHT WHEN HE PRAYED, GOD'S ANSWER WAS DELAYED AND MICHAEL HAD TO GO HELP GABRIEL GET THE ANSWER THROUGH. THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO STAND AGAINST HINDERING SPIRITS.
NOW LET'S LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED TO SAUL AND BARNABAS IN ACTS 13:6-11 THAT SAYS "They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit,looked straight at Elymas and said, “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand." BARJESUS WAS ANOTHER HINDERING SPIRIT TRYING TO STOP GOD'S WORD BUT SAUL TOOK CARE OF IT AND STOPPED HIM. SATAN WILL USE ANYTHING OR ANYONE HE CAN SO BEWARE. YOU HAVE THE SAME POWER SAUL DID AND CAN CAST OUT THOSE HINDERING SPIRITS.
NOW I HAVE WRITTEN ALL OF THIS TO GET TO MY POINT. WHEN YOU ARE PRAYING, THERE ARE HINDERING SPIRITS THAT WILL TRY TO STOP YOU FROM GETTING YOUR ANSWERS. WE NEED TO COME AGAINST THEM AND BIND THEM AND CAST THEM OUT OF OUR LIVES. THAT IS A COMMANDMENT JESUS GIVES US IN MATTHEW 10:8 WHERE HE SAYS "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." IF CASTING OUT DEVILS DIDN'T WORK, JESUS WOULD NOT HAVE TOLD US TO DO IT. SO, IF YOUR PRAYERS ARE NOT BEING ANSWERED, THIS MIGHT GIVE YOU A CLUE AS TO WHY. WE NEED TO USE ALL OF GOD'S COMMANDMENTS TO MAKE YOUR LIVES BETTER. HE HAS GIVEN THEM TO US AND I AM GOING TO USE THEM, HOW ABOUT YOU?
