DOES IT BOTHER YOU TO HEAR SOMEONE TAKE GOD'S NAME IN VAIN? IT DOES ME AND I DON'T MIND TELLING THEM ABOUT IT WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. PEOPLE HAVE EVEN TOLD ME THAT IT WASN'T A SIN. DON'T THEY EVER READ THE BIBLE. WHAT ABOUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS? (EXODUS 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.) WHAT ABOUT JUST SAYING CURSE WORDS? DOING THAT IS A SIN ALSO. (EPHESIANS 4:29 SAYS "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.")

WHAT ABOUT SAYING "OH MY GOD" WHEN YOU ARE NOT REALLY TALKING TO HIM OR SHORTENING IT TO "OMG"? TO ME, THAT IS TAKING HIS NAME IN VAIN JUST AS BAD AS USING "GOD DAMN". I DON'T EVEN LIKE TO TYPE IT OUT HERE TO EXPLAIN THIS. FORGIVE ME LORD.

I THINK JAMES 3:9-12 SUMS IT UP PRETTY GOOD WHEN IT SAYS "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."

WE SHOULD NOT PRAISE GOD ON ONE HAND AND CURSE OUR BROTHERS ON THE OTHER. THIS IS NOT CHRIST LIKE. JESUS SAYS WHAT COMES OUT OF OUR MOUTHS IS THAT WHICH FILLS OUR HEARTS. SOONER OR LATER THE EVIL THAT IS IN OUR HEARTS COMES OUT THROUGH OUR MOUTHS IN CURSES AND SWEARING. HOWEVER, WHEN WE FILL OUR HEARTS WITH THE GOODNESS OF GOD, PRAISE FOR HIM AND LOVE FOR OTHERS WILL COME OUT OF OUR MOUTHS.

I WILL SUM IT UP THIS WAY. WHEN WE SWEAR AND CURSE, WE ARE SHOWING THE SIN IN OUR HEARTS THAT HAS TO BE CONFESSED AND REPENTED OF. GOD WILL APPLY THE FORGIVENESS THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN AND THIS WILL STOP THE DEVIL IN HIS TRACKS FROM HAVING ANY INFLUENCE IN OUR LIVES. PRAISE GOD THAT 1ST JOHN 1:9 SAYS "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DO THIS, 2ND CORINTHIANS 5:17 SAYS "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WE ARE A NEW CREATURE AND OUR HEARTS ARE TRANSFORMED AND OUR SPEECH REFLECTS THE NEW NATURE GOD HAS CREATED IN US. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT.

Yes so well said there David. Many people do it when they don't understand the bible because they are ignorant to either really reading it or really perceiving with their hearts whom the lord Jesus Christ is. Many think they know him and many are enslaved in worldly living that they could care less. Yes I correct them too. "Thou shall not take the name of God in vain" is what I tell them and in time they do it more is what I sometimes noticed. Why? Because they are blinded by the God of this world. (Some of them). They are blind to spiritual matters and many people say they believe but scripture does say that God will appoint some who say they believe their portion with the unbelievers. God punishes those who takes his name in vain.

THANKS SO MUCH WAYNE AND GOD BLESS YOU. WE NEED MORE CHRISTIANS LIKE YOU THAT WILL STAND UP FOR GOD. AND, IT IS LIKE YOU SAID ABOUT SOME NOT PERCEIVING WITH THEIR HEARTS WHO JESUS REALLY IS. THEY READ THE BIBLE JUST TO SAY THAT THEY HAVE READ IT BUT THEY DO NOT STUDY IT. JESUS EVEN TELLS US TO LEARN OF HIM IN MATTHEW 11:29 "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me." THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING.
