"THE POWER OF THE MIND" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HOW ARE YOU TEMPTED WITH SOMETHING BAD?  IS IT SOMETHING YOU SEE OR HEAR?  WHEN THAT TEMPTATION COMES, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?  DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?  IF YOU START THINKING ABOUT IT, THAT IS YOUR FIRST PROBLEM.  TEMPTATION STARTS IN THE MIND.  IF YOU DWELL ON IT, IT WILL GROW AND SOMETIMES YOU WILL ACT ON IT AND THAT IS WHEN IT BECOMES SIN.  EVEN IF YOU DON'T PHYSICAL ACT ON IT, JESUS SAYS IN MATTHEW 5:28, "Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."  ALTHOUGH THIS IS ABOUT LUST, IT WOULD BE THE SAME FOR HATE, ENVY, ETC.

THE DEVIL WILL PUT EVERY TYPE OF TEMPTATION IN FRONT OF YOU AND IT IS UP TO YOU TO REJECT IT.  IF AN EVIL THOUGHT ENTERS YOUR MIND, GET RID OF IT BEFORE IT MAKES YOU SIN.  IT IS LIKE SOMETHING YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH.  IF IT IS NOT GOOD, YOU SPIT IT OUT.  TEMPTATION IS THE SAME WAY AND YOU MUST NOT TAKE IT ALL THE WAY IN.  THE DEVIL WILL ALSO LIE TO YOU AND MAKE YOU THINK IT IS OK.  IN JOHN 8:44, JESUS IS TALKING TO THE JEWS AND SAYS "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."  THIS PRETTY MUCH TELL YOU WHAT AND WHO SATAN IS.

ONE OTHER THING YOU MUST UNDERSTAND.  THE DEVIL IS THE TEMPTER NOT JESUS.  WHEN JESUS WAS BEING TEMPTED IN THE WILDERNESS, MATTHEW 4:3 SAYS "And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread."  IN FACT, JAMES PUTS IT ANOTHER WAY IN VERSES 1:13 & 14 WHEN HE SAYS  "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."  IT IS EITHER THE DEVIL OR YOU LETTING IT HAPPEN.  YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT JESUS TEMPTING YOU.

I WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS AND I KNOW YOU HAVE HEARD ME SAY IT MANY TIMES BUT IT IS TRUE, "YOU CAN'T BE TEMPTED BY SOMETHING YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT".

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
