I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

"REALLY STUDYING THE WORD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
I WROTE ABOUT THIS SOME TIME BACK BUT SOME PEOPLE DIDN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS SAYING BECAUSE EVIDENTLY THE BIBLE THEY WERE USING DIDN'T PUT WORDS IN ITALICS OR USE PARENTHESES . I PRIMARILY USE THE KING JAMES VERSION THAT DOES THIS SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS BECAUSE, I BELIEVE, IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED WORDS THAT ARE IN ITALICS OR PARENTHESES IN YOUR BIBLE? THESE WORDS ARE NOT IN THE ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS BUT ARE PUT IN BY THE TRANSLATORS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE SENTENCE SOUND RIGHT AND HELP US TO UNDERSTAND IT BETTER..
THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW FOR TWO REASONS. SOMETIMES IT CHANGES THE MEANING OF THE VERSE COMPLETELY. FOR INSTANCE, IN JOHN 12:32, JESUS SAYS "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all (men) unto me." THE WORD "MEN" IS IN PARENTHESES MEANING IT WAS NOT IN THE ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS. I BELIEVE, AND THIS IS JUST WHAT I THINK, THAT WHAT JESUS WAS DRAWING UNTO HIMSELF WAS ALL "SIN", WHICH HE DID BY TAKING ALL THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD ON HIMSELF. (1ST PETER 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.) IF YOU LOOK IN THE VERSE BEFORE, JOHN 12:31, IT SAYS "Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out." JESUS IS TALKING ABOUT THE JUDGEMENT AND SIN IS WHAT WAS BEING JUDGED. ALL MEN ARE NOT DRAWN UNTO HIM AND I WISH THEY WERE AS IT WOULD MAKE GETTING EVERYONE BORN AGAIN SO MUCH EASIER. AGAIN, THIS IS JUST WHAT I BELIEVE.
LET'S LOOK AT ANOTHER PASSAGE IN EXODUS AND AGAIN IN JOHN AND YOU CAN SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. YOU SAW WHAT THE TRANSLATORS DID IN JOHN 12:32. IN EXODUS 3:14 IT SAYS "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." NOW LOOK AT JOHN 18:6 WHERE IT SAYS "As soon then as he had said unto them, I am (he), they went backward, and fell to the ground." THE WORD "HE" WAS INSERTED AND REALLY DIDN'T NEED TO BE. HE IS "I AM", THE SAME "I AM" THAT TOLD MOSES WHAT TO TELL HIS PEOPLE. NO WONDER EVERYONE FELL TO THE GROUND. THEY COULD NOT STAND UP UNDER THE POWER OF GOD.
SO, WHEN YOU SEE A WORD OR PHRASE IN ITALICS OR PARENTHESES IN THE BIBLE, READ IT WITHOUT THE WORD OR PHRASE AND SEE IF THAT IS REALLY WHAT IT MEANS. I JUST THOUGHT THIS WAS INTERESTING AND THOUGHT YOU ALL MIGHT ALSO. DON'T JUST READ THE BIBLE, STUDY IT. IT HAS SO MUCH TO TELL US.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
