GOD'S GREAT LOVE FOR US ALL
I WAS READING ABOUT LOVE THIS MORNING AND THOUGHT I WOULD TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE ON GOD'S KIND OF LOVE. DO YOU REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH GOD LOVES US? HE IS NOT FAR OFF IN HEAVEN WATCHING US TO SEE IF WE ARE GOING TO SIN, LIKE SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE. HE LOVES US BECAUSE OF JESUS. BEFORE JESUS TOOK OUR SINS AWAY, WE COULDN'T EVEN GO STRAIGHT TO HIM IN PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP BUT NOW WE CAN.
I'LL SHOW YOU REAL LOVE. ALTHOUGH HE KNEW ALL THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO JESUS, THE REJECTION HE WOULD FACE AND THE PAIN HE WOULD SUFFER ON THE CROSS, HE SENT JESUS TO DIE FOR US ANYWAY. IT HAD TO REALLY HURT HIM, ESPECIALLY WHEN HE HEARD JESUS SAY "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" GOD HAD NOT FORSAKEN HIM, HE JUST COULD NOT LOOK ON ALL THE SIN JESUS HAD TAKEN UPON HIMSELF, OUR SIN. THEN THE BIBLE SAYS "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost." NOW DO YOU SEE HOW MUCH GOD LOVES US?
NOW LET ME SAY SOMETHING ABOUT HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES US. HE ALSO KNEW HOW MUCH REJECTION AND PAIN AND SUFFERING HE WOULD HAVE TO ENDURE. HE KNEW ALL THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM, EVEN HIS DEATH, AND HE ASKED GOD THREE TIMES THAT IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WAY THIS COULD BE DONE TO DO IT BUT IF IT WAS GOD'S WILL THEN LET IT BE DONE THIS WAY. JUST READ WHAT HE SAID IN THE GARDEN WHEN HE WAS PRAYING. MATTHEW 26:38-44 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
SOMEONE ASKED ONE TIME WHY GOD WOULD DO THIS KNOWING ALL THINGS. I BELIEVE HE DID IT TO HAVE SOMEONE TO LOVE AND THAT WOULD LOVE HIM BACK. OH, HE COULD HAVE MADE US ALL LIKE ROBOTS AND MADE US LOVE HIM BUT HE GAVE US A FREE WILL SO WE COULD CHOOSE TO LOVE HIM. REVELATION 4:11 SAYS "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." WE WERE CREATED FOR HIS PLEASURE AND WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET THIS. HE WANTS TO FELLOWSHIP WITH US THROUGHOUT ETERNITY. THE DICTIONARY DEFINES ETERNITY AS "Time without beginning or end" SO, SINCE WE ARE IN THIS ETERNITY RIGHT NOW, WE SHOULD START ACTING LIKE IT AND SHOW HIM THE LOVE WE HAVE FOR HIM BY DOING WHAT HE COMMANDS. IN JOHN 14:15 JESUS SAYS "If ye love me, keep my commandments. THIS IS THE LEAST WE CAN DO.
