ABIDING IN JESUS
ARE YOU BEARING FRUIT? THE FRUIT I AM TALKING ABOUT ARE NEW CONVERTS. ARE YOU PLANTING SEEDS? IF WE ARE NOT PLANTING SEEDS, HOW CAN WE EXPECT A HARVEST? JESUS TALKS ABOUT THIS IN JOHN 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
ARE YOU ABIDING IN HIM? TO GET A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT ABIDE MEANS, I LOOKED IT UP. "To dwell. To tarry or to continue permanently." I PRAY THAT I ALWAYS DWELL IN HIM AND I KNOW HE DOES IN ME BECAUSE HE SAID HE DOES. "JOHN 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"
NOT ABIDING IN THE LORD IS NOT GOOD AND IT HAS ITS PENALTIES. JOHN 15:6 SAYS "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." THIS IS WHY I SAID WHAT I DID ABOUT ABIDING IN HIM. ON THE OTHER HAND, ABIDING IN HIM HAS ITS REWARDS. JESUS SAID IN JOHN 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." YOUR PRAYERS WILL BE ANSWERED BECAUSE HE SAYS YOU SHALL, NOT YOU MIGHT. HE KEEPS HIS WORD.
KEEP HIM IN THE MIDST OF YOUR WHOLE BEING. JUST REMEMBER WHAT PROVERBS 4:20-22 SAYS "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." HE LOVES US AND WANTS US TO LOVE HIM AND WANTS US TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT HIM AND HIS LOVE. HE WANTS US TO BEAR FRUIT SO PLANT THOSE SEEDS. HAVE YOU TOLD ANYONE ABOUT HIM THIS WEEK?
