I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE STRESSED
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN REALLY STRESSED? I KNOW YOU HAVE, BUT HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT HOW STRESSED JESUS' DISCIPLES MUST HAVE BEEN? THEY WATCH JESUS BEING ARRESTED, BEATEN AND CRUCIFIED. ALL OF THEIR HOPES AND DREAMS WERE ROOTED IN HIM AND THEN HE WAS DEAD AND SEEMINGLY DEFEATED. NOW DO YOU THINK THEY WERE STRESSED?
THE CONFUSION, HURT AND PAIN FROM THAT ALONE WAS PROBABLY UNBEARABLE BUT THEN CAME REMEMBERING ALL THAT HAD HAPPENED. I AM SURE THEY WERE THINKING, "WE HAVE MADE SUCH SACRIFICES, LEAVING OUR FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES AND RISKING IT ALL ON THE BELIEF THAT JESUS WAS THE MESSIAH. MIGHT IT ALL HAVE BEEN IN VAIN?" "HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE THEY COME AND GET US?" YES, I THINK THEY WERE VERY STRESSED. DO YOU THINK THIS COMPARES TO YOUR STRESS? I DON'T THINK SO.
WHY ALL THE STRESS? I THINK IT WAS BECAUSE THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE WITH JESUS SOME THREE YEARS, THEY HADN'T REALLY LISTENED TO HIM. LOOK WHAT HE TOLD THEM THE NIGHT BEFORE HIS CRUCIFIXION. (LUKE 18:31-34 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.) DON'T YOU THINK THAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE TOMB ON THAT THIRD DAY IF THEY HAD UNDERSTOOD THIS. AFTER ALL THIS, HE ALSO TOLD THEM IN JOHN 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." HE KNEW WHAT THEY WOULD THINK AND HOW THEY WOULD ACT AND HE WAS TRYING TO COMFORT THEM.
WHEN CRISIS COMES, AND IT WILL, DO WHAT JESUS SAYS TO DO. DON'T DWELL ON THE BAD BUT LOOK TOWARD JESUS. HE IS YOUR ANSWER. HE HAS NOT BROUGHT YOU THIS FAR TO DROP YOU NOW. HE CAN TURN ANYTHING BAD INTO SOMETHING GOOD. IT IS BETTER IF WE TALK TO HIM FIRST ABOUT WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AND ASK HIM WHAT HE WANTS US TO DO. HOWEVER, EVEN IF SOMETIMES WE DON'T, I AM SURE HE WILL STILL TURN THINGS AROUND FOR US IF WE JUST LET HIM AND TRUST HIM. HE LOVES US MORE THAN WE CAN EVER IMAGINE AND HE CAN TAKE ALL OUR STRESS AWAY. I WILL PUT THIS HERE AGAIN AND DWELL ON IT AND BELIEVE. "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." THAT IS ALL HE WANTS US TO DO IS TO BELIEVE IN HIM.
