WHAT IS A SHEPHERD?
DID YOU KNOW JESUS IS OUR SHEPHERD? THAT IS WHAT THE BIBLE CALLS HIM. "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD". JUST READ THE FOLLOWING AND SEE IF YOU DON'T AGREE.
THIS IS FROM MY 1828 WEBSTER DICTIONARY WHICH I REALLY LIKE BECAUSE A LOT OF TIMES IT INCLUDES GOD'S WORD IN ITS DEFINITION. JUST READ BELOW:
1. A man employed in tending, feeding, and guarding sheep in the pasture.
2. The pastor of a parish, church, or congregation; a minister of the gospel who superintends a church or parish, and gave instruction in spiritual things. God and Christ are in Scripture denominated Shepherds, as they lead, protect and govern their people, and provide for their welfare.
NOW LET'S LOOK AT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT A SHEPHERD. JESUS SAYS THAT HE IS A SHEPHERD, BUT NOT JUST ANY SHEPHERD, HE IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD. JOHN 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. JOHN 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. DAVID HAD THE RIGHT IDEA WHEN HE WROTE THE 23RD PSALM.
ARE YOU ONE OF JESUS' SHEEP? IF YOU ARE REALLY BORN AGAIN YOU ARE. DO YOU HEAR HIS VOICE AND ARE YOU FOLLOWING HIM? YOU SHOULD BE DOING BOTH. HE SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS WORD AND IF YOU ARE NOT READING HIS WORD, HOW WILL YOU KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW HIM? HE SAYS IN JOHN 27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" THIS SHOULD SHED A GREATER LIGHT ON READING AND STUDYING THE BIBLE. AS ALWAYS, IT IS UP TO US. HE HAS DONE IT ALL FOR US. WE JUST NEED TO PRAISE AND THANK HIM FOR IT. ARE YOU?
