PETER'S AND PAUL'S TEACHINGS
DID YOU KNOW THAT WHEN JESUS WAS TEACHING WITH HIS DISCIPLES, THEY WERE TEACHING STRICTLY TO THE JEWS? IT WAS PAUL THAT WAS SENT TO PREACH TO THE GENTILES. HE WAS THE ONE THAT WAS GIVEN THE "GOSPEL" OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE DISCIPLES DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THIS AS IT SAYS IN LUKE 18:33-34 "And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things."
PETER EVEN SAYS THAT THE THINGS PAUL WAS TEACHING WERE HARD TO UNDERSTAND EVEN AFTER JESUS HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD. LOOK WHAT HE SAYS IN 2ND PETER 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. PAUL HAD REBUKED PETER FOR BEING A HYPOCRITE IN GALATIANS 2:11-14. HE BROKE THE JEWISH TRADITION BY EATING WITH THE GENTILES BUT WHEN THE JEWS, SENT FROM JAMES, ARRIVED, HE SEPARATED HIMSELF FOR FEAR OF WHAT THESE JEWS MIGHT THINK. EVEN AFTER PAUL REBUKED HIM OPENLY, PETER STILL CALLED HIM "OUR BELOVED BROTHER". THIS STATEMENT SHOWS THAT THEY HAD ACCEPTED PAUL'S TEACHINGS.
THEY WERE SPREADING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS RIGHT UP TILL THEIR DEATHS. TRADITION SAYS THAT BOTH PAUL AND PETER WERE KILLED BY EMPEROR NERO, PAUL BEING BEHEADED AND PETER ASKED TO BE CRUCIFIED UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE HE DIDN'T THINK HIMSELF WORTHY TO DIE THE SAME WAY AS JESUS DID.
THESE WERE TWO GREAT MEN AND TO STUDY THEIR WRITINGS, ESPECIALLY PAUL'S, WILL GIVE US KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT JESUS WANTS US TO DO. BOTH THEIR WRITINGS, AND THE REST OF THE SCRIPTURES IN THE BIBLE, ARE GIVEN BY THE INSPIRATION OF GOD LIKE IT SAYS IN 2ND TIMOTHY 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness".
