OUR GREATEST TREASURE
PAUL SAYS IN 1ST TIMOTHY 6:10 THAT "The love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THINGS WE WISH FOR AND WANT FOR OUR FAMILIES, IS THAT COVETING?
LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT "COVETING" FOR A MINUTE. LET'S LOOK AT TWO DEFINITIONS FOR COVET IN THE DICTIONARY.
1 To desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others. IN MY OPINION, THESE DEFINITIONS WOULD BE SINNING.
2 To wish for, especially eagerly. THIS ONE IS THE ONE I FEEL MOST OF US ARE DOING AND I'M NOT SURE THIS IS SINNING.
THE DICTIONARY SAYS THAT A WISH IS "to desire". I HAVE A DESIRE TO HELP MY FAMILY AND OTHERS THAT NEED IT AND PSALM 37:4 SAYS TO "Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." I FEEL I AM DELIGHTING MYSELF IN THE LORD BY STUDYING HIS WORD AND HAVING FAITH TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING HE SAYS IS TRUE. SO THIS IS THE SCRIPTURE I AM STANDING ON AND I AM THANKING GOD FOR IT ALREADY BECAUSE HE SAYS "HE SHALL GIVE THEE".
ALSO REMEMBER MARK 11:24 THAT SAYS "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." IF YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THEN WHY NOT THANK HIM FOR IT.
I KNOW WE ALL WANT OUR WISHES TO COME TRUE BUT GOD HAS A SYSTEM THAT PROSPERITY IS JUST A BY-PRODUCT OF PUTTING HIM FIRST. MATTHEW 6:33 STATES, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
WE SHOULD NO MORE REJECT THE BLESSING OF PROSPERITY THAN WE SHOULD COVET IT, WHICH IS IDOLATRY. SEEKING GOD FIRST SHOULD BE OUR MAIN GOAL IN LIFE. JUST KNOWING GOD IS OUR GREATEST TREASURE AND JESUS SAYS IN MATTHEW 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." LET'S ALL KEEP OUR HEARTS IN THE RIGHT PLACE BY SEEKING GOD.
