"SHARPER THAN A TWO EDGED SWORD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"SHARPER THAN A TWO EDGED SWORD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

I HAVE WRITTEN BEFORE ON THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD BUT HAVE A LITTLE MORE TO SAY ON THAT SUBJECT.  SOME PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD.  IF THEY DID, THEY WOULD NOT BE IN NEED OR SICK OR DEPRESSED.  I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE "NAME IT AND CLAIM IT" CHRISTIANS BUT I DO BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD AND HE SAYS TO ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO ME.  READ IT FOR YOURSELF.  (MATTHEW 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.)   AND, (MATTHEW 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye...
"KNOWING GOD'S WILL IS NOT ENOUGH" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Luke 1:34, "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"

LUKE 1:26-38

Contrast Mary's question and Gabriel's response with the question that Zacharias asked Gabriel and the response that he received (Luke 1:18-20). You will find the questions are similar but the responses are totally different.

Both Mary and Zacharias asked how these miracles would occur but it is evident that Mary was asking "how" in faith while Zacharias was asking "how" in unbelief. It is a clear Bible teaching that unbelief doesn't please God (Heb. 11:6), but the Lord doesn't mind us questioning Him for the purpose of instruction so we can cooperate with His will in our lives.

Abram knew that it was God's will for him to have a son but Abram and Sarai came up with their own plan which caused them and the world much grief (Gen. 16:1-6). Abram would have avoided many...

"CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Luke 1:18, "And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years."

LUKE 1:5-25

Zacharias and Elisabeth were righteous people (v. 6) who prayed for a child for many years. They felt the same disappointments and frustrations that any of us would feel and yet they kept believing God. The Lord finally answered their prayers and sent His angel to announce the good news.

What was Zacharias' reaction? He couldn't believe it! The very thing that he had been praying for was granted and he doubted that it was true. In Zacharias' case he received his miracle anyway. Perhaps his wife's faith pulled him through.

Likewise, you may be praying for the right things. You may even be sincere and earnest, but would you be surprised if those prayers were suddenly answered today? Have you made preparations for your prayers to be...

"TEMPTATION STARTS IN THE MIND" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HOW ARE YOU TEMPTED WITH SOMETHING BAD?  IS IT SOMETHING YOU SEE OR HEAR?  WHEN THAT TEMPTATION COMES, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?  DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?  IF YOU START THINKING ABOUT IT, THAT IS YOUR FIRST PROBLEM.  TEMPTATION STARTS IN THE MIND.  IF YOU DWELL ON IT, IT WILL GROW AND FINALLY YOU WILL ACT ON IT AND THAT IS SIN.  EVEN IF YOU DON'T PHYSICAL ACT ON IT,...

"ABOUT GENEALOGIES" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Luke 3:23, "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli."

MATTHEW 1:1-17; LUKE 3:23-38

Even the genealogies are inspired by God and profitable (2 Tim. 3:16). Matthew traces Jesus' genealogy through Joseph back to Solomon. However, there was a curse placed on one of Solomon's sons named Jechonias (Jer. 22:24-30), which Jesus avoided by being born of a virgin.

Luke mentions Jesus as being the supposed son of Joseph who was the son of Heli. It was actually Mary who was the daughter of Heli. This was done in other Old Testament instances (Num. 27:1-11; 36:12 with Ruth 4:6). Mary's genealogy was also from David but through Nathan, a half brother of Solomon. Thus the lineage was preserved but the curse bypassed.

These genealogies show the infinite wisdom of God in fulfilling His promises despite...

"WHAT IS LOVE TO YOU?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

PARENTS, DO YOU LOVE YOUR CHILDREN SO MUCH THAT YOU WANT TO GIVE THEM THE THINGS THEY NEED OR EVEN JUST THINGS THEY WANT?  IF WE LOVE OUR CHILDREN THIS MUCH, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT GOD, WHO IS LOVE, LOVES US A LOT MORE AND WANTS TO DO THE SAME FOR US?  MOST CHRISTIANS WOULD SAY HE HAS GIVEN US THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HE COULD AND THAT IS SALVATION, AND I AGREE.

HE HAS ALSO GIVEN US THE ABILITY TO WALK IN DIVINE HEALTH.  THE PROBLEM CHRISTIANS HAVE IS THEY WANT IT "NOW" FROM GOD.  THEY WILL TAKE THE DOCTOR'S ADVICE AND TAKE MEDICINE FOR TWO WEEKS TO GET WELL BUT THEY WANT GOD TO DO IT "NOW".  THE BIBLE SAYS IN MATTHEW 21:22 "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing , ye shall receive."  IT DOESN'T SAY IN THE NEXT MINUTE BUT THAT IS WHEN WE WANT IT. THE DOCTORS TELL US TO "TRY" THIS AND SEE IF IT WORKS. GOD SAYS "YE SHALL RECEIVE".  HE LOVES US AND...

"NOW, OR THEN?" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"NOW, OR THEN?" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

John 1:16, "And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."

JOHN 1:1-18

The Christian life is not like an insurance policy that only pays off when we die and go to heaven. Every believer has now received the grace of God and the fullness of God. We are now complete in Him (Col. 2:9-10).

When we receive Jesus as our Lord, we are instantly changed in our spirits (2 Cor. 5:17). Many Christians aren't aware of the change that takes place in their spirit. They continue to live within their physical and emotional realms and are oblivious to the new, born-again part of them that has received the fullness of God.

You can't see or feel your spirit. You just have to believe what the Word of God tells you because God's Word is spirit and life (Jn. 6:63). Your spiritual salvation is complete. Nothing can be added to it. In your spirit, you are right now as you will be...

"JESUS WAS GOD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"JESUS WAS GOD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

LUKE 1:1-4; JOHN 1:1-18

Jesus was not just a man sent from God, He was God.

This is the most important statement of the New Testament. On this truth hangs all other truths.

If Jesus was only a man, then regardless of how good He was, His life could only provide a substitute for one other man. But since He was God, His life was worth more than every human life since creation. Indeed it was worth more than the sum total of the universe that He created.

Any compromise on this point will negate the work of Christ in our lives. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16)! Yet this Almighty God came to dwell in a human body. He humbled Himself and took the form of a servant (Phil. 2:7).

Christ's humanity truly made Him one of us. He suffered the same temptations and...
