Many thought that Jesus was speaking of cannibalism, but He was speaking of the spiritual man. Just as the physical man receives life from the food he eats, so the spiritual man receives life as he partakes of Jesus, the life of men (Jn. 1:4; 10:10; 14:6) or the 'Bread of Life.' Just as the life of a root is found in the soil, or a branch in the vine, or a fish in the sea, so the believer's true life is found to be in union with Christ.

I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHY I SAID SIN IS NOT AN ISSUE ANYMORE. WELL, IT IS AN ISSUE IN THE SENSE THAT WE SHOULDN'T DO IT BUT THAT SIN WE DO EVERY DAY HAS ALREADY BEEN FORGIVEN. SIN IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE AND DOES MATTER BECAUSE THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH. "ROMANS 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." JESUS MAKES REFERENCE TO THIS IN MATTHEW 5:29-30 WHERE HE SAYS "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell". IT MAY SOUND LIKE HE IS GOING A LITTLE TO THE EXTREME BUT THAT IS JUST HOW IMPORTANT IT IS.

All throughout history, mankind has been seeking ways to do the works of God. Everyone has a knowledge within them of the reality of God (Rom. 1:18-20), and a desire to be right with Him. However, just as with these Jews, few agree with the Lord as to how to do it. These Jews were willing to do something to obtain salvation, but they were not willing to commit themselves to Jesus and accept His gift.
This is one of the major differences between Christianity and the religions of the world. Religion is willing to make sacrifices to obtain right standing with God, but...
DO YOU EXERCISE, EITHER WALK, JOG, OR GO TO A GYM? THERE IS SO MUCH TALK ON THIS THAT MOST OF US TRY TO DO SOMETHING TO KEEP OUR BODIES IN SHAPE. AT 80 YEARS OLD, I CAN'T DO MUCH OF THAT ANYMORE BUT I AM ABLE TO EXERCISE MY SPIRIT. WHAT ABOUT YOUR SPIRIT? DO YOU EXERCISE IT? WE KNOW OUR BODIES HAVE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF IN ORDER FOR THEM TO WORK PROPERLY. WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE WE EAT GOOD, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, AND PROTECT OURSELVES FROM ANYTHING THAT WILL HARM US.
OUR SPIRITS NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF AS WELL AS OUR BODIES. THEY NEED TO BE TRAINED IN THE THINGS OF GOD. THEY NEED TO BE FED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WORD AND WATERED BY HIS "LIVING WATER". JUST AS OUR BODIES WILL BECOME UNPRODUCTIVE, OUR SPIRITS WILL ALSO BECOME UNPRODUCTIVE IF WE DON'T TAKE CARE OF THEM. IF WE TRY TO RELY ON THE THINGS WE HAVE BEEN...
