"ARE YOU A BELIEVER?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"ARE YOU A BELIEVER?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

I KNOW I WRITE A LOT ABOUT BELIEVING BUT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD.  I AM GOING TO LIST A FEW VERSES FROM THE GOSPELS TO SHOW YOU WHAT I MEAN.

MARK 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

MARK 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say...

"RECOGNIZE THE REAL ENEMY" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"RECOGNIZE THE REAL ENEMY" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Mark 8:33, "But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men."

MARK 8:30-33

Jesus was not implying that Peter and Satan were one-and-the-same, but was referring to the fact that Satan had inspired Peter's statement. This type of metaphor was used elsewhere in scripture such as when God spoke to the serpent in the garden of Eden (Gen. 3:15) as though addressing Satan. The serpent was merely the vehicle of communication Satan used to tempt Adam and Eve, while Peter was the vehicle Satan used to tempt Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 reveals that our warfare isn't with people, but against the spiritual powers who inspire and use people. Jesus recognized that Peter's reaction to His prophecy about His death was motivated by His enemy, Satan, so He went right to...

"REJOICE OVER PERSECUTION" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"REJOICE OVER PERSECUTION" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

ARE YOU BEING PERSECUTED FOR BELIEVING IN AND SHARING JESUS WITH OTHERS?  PERSECUTION IS BEING HARASSED OR OPPRESSED, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF YOUR BELIEF IN JESUS.  IF YOU ARE, LOOK WHAT JESUS TELLS US TO DO IN MATTHEW 5:12 WHEN HE SAYS "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."  OUR BELIEF IN HIM WILL BE REWARDED FAR GREATER THAN ANY SUFFERING WE MIGHT ENCOUNTER HERE ON EARTH.

WHETHER YOU KNOW IT OR NOT, JESUS TAKES YOUR PERSECUTION VERY SERIOUSLY.  AFTER PAUL HAD BEEN TRAVELING AROUND, PUTTING BELIEVERS IN JESUS IN PRISON AND HAVING SOME PUT TO DEATH, JESUS ASK HIM WHY HE WAS PERSECUTING HIM, NOT THE BELIEVERS.  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN ACTS 9:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

WE HAVE TO REMEMBER...

"GOD'S WILL ABOVE OURS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"GOD'S WILL ABOVE OURS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Luke 9:23, "And he said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."

MATTHEW 16:16-26; MARK 8:30-37; LUKE 9:21-27

Self-denial is an important part of the Christian life. Jesus sacrificed His life for us and He demands that we die to ourselves that we might experience the new life He has provided. We do this first by recognizing that we can't save ourselves by our own effort and, second, by trusting God - not self - for salvation. Then daily, we need to deny our own wisdom and seek God's wisdom and direction for our lives.

Self-denial is only good when we are denying ourselves for the singular purpose of exalting Jesus and His will for us in some area of our life. Some have made a religion out of self-denial and find pleasure in their denial - not in Jesus'lordship. This leads to legalism and bondage, which Paul...

"DO YOU REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH GOD LOVES YOU?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

DO YOU THINK GOD PUT ADAM AND EVE OUT OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN BECAUSE HE WAS ANGRY AFTER THEY SINNED?  HE ACTUALLY PUT THEM OUT BECAUSE HE LOVED THEM AND ALL OF US, WHO ARE THEIR DESCENDANTS.  HE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THEY DIDN'T EAT OF "THE TREE OF LIFE" AND LIVE FOREVER IN A CORRUPT BODY.  CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING FOREVER BEING BLIND, DEAF OR HAVING NO ARMS OR LEGS?  THAT IS WHAT WE WOULD BE GOING THROUGH IF THEY HAD EATEN OF "THE TREE OF LIFE".  HE EVEN PUT ANGELS THERE TO KEEP THEM OUT.

HE DIDN'T EVEN HOLD ADAM'S AND EVE'S SIN AGAINST THEM OR EVEN CAIN FOR KILLING ABLE.  IT TELLS US THIS IN ROMANS 5:13 WHERE IT SAYS "For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law."  THE LAW, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS", DID NOT COME UNTIL MOSES, MANY YEARS LATER.

SO GOD WAS NOT HOLDING SINS...

"JESUS, THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"JESUS, THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Matthew 16:18, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

MATTHEW 16:13-19

Some people have mistakenly interpreted this passage to say that Peter was the foundation on which Christ would build His Church. However, that would violate many scriptures that refer to Jesus as the "chief cornerstone."

Ephesians 2:20 does mention the apostles as being part of the foundation stones of Christ's church, but it doesn't single Peter out above any of the other apostles, This same scripture once again mentions Jesus as the "chief cornerstone."

There are two different Greek words used for "Peter" and "rock" respectively in verse 18. The word used for "Peter" means "rock" but signifies a piece of rock like a pebble. In contrast, the word translated as "rock" signifies a massive rock which...

"RECEIVE THE FULLNESS OF GOD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

SOME PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE THAT GOD COMES TO LIVES INSIDE US WHEN WE ARE BORN AGAIN.  THEY WILL QUOTE THE VERSE IN 2ND CHRONICLES 6:18 WHICH SAYS "But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!"  WHAT THEY HAVE TO REALIZE IS THAT GOD IS A SPIRIT AND IN THAT SPIRIT OF GOD ARE THREE PERSONALITIES, GOD (THE FATHER), GOD THE SON (JESUS) AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT (THE COMFORTER), STILL ONLY ONE GOD.  (JOHN 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.)

FROM TIME TO TIME, THROUGHOUT THE OLD TESTAMENT, JESUS WOULD APPEAR IN A PHYSICAL FORM AND THEN GO BACK TO THE SPIRITUAL GODHEAD.  IN THE NEW TESTAMENT HE BECAME FLESH AND BLOOD AND DWELT AMONG US FOR A WHILE AND THEN,...

"PETITION NOT REPETITION" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"PETITION NOT REPETITION" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Mark 8:24-25, "And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly."

MATTHEW 7:7-11; MARK 8:22-25

It was unusual for Jesus to inquire about the results of His ministry as He did in verse 23. It was even more unusual that Jesus laid hands on this man a second time. This is the only example in the New Testament where Jesus had to minister to any need more than once to affect a total healing.

Many people request things from God and then look at their circumstances to see if God answered their prayer. That is walking by sight and not by faith. If they can't "see" God's answer, then they pray again asking for the same thing. This is not the way Jesus taught us to pray and receive. We can be certain that Jesus didn't lay hands on this man a second time because He...
