grace as opposed to sin bible study
Grace as opposed to sin and the flesh
I am going to show you that grace, what we are saved by no means is a get out of jail card in as far as resisting sin, and the sometimes very intense cravings of the flesh. I know how hard it can to resist the flesh and temptations be but I really don’t want to give in to my flesh’s demands and the like either, and grieve God and the Holy Spirit.
I am going to start this bible study with a good chapter on grace and its purposes in saving believers and their lives.
(Ephesians 2:1) And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
(Ephesians 2:2) in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--
(Ephesians 2:3) among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
(Ephesians 2:4) But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
(Ephesians 2:5) even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved--
(Ephesians 2:6) and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
(Ephesians 2:7) so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
(Ephesians 2:8) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
(Ephesians 2:9) not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
(Ephesians 2:10) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:11) Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called "the uncircumcision" by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands--
(Ephesians 2:12) remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
(Ephesians 2:13) But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
(Ephesians 2:14) For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility
(Ephesians 2:15) by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace,
(Ephesians 2:16) and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.
(Ephesians 2:17) And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
(Ephesians 2:18) For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
(Ephesians 2:19) So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
(Ephesians 2:20) built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
(Ephesians 2:21) in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.
(Ephesians 2:22) In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Here is a very strong passage in Romans chapter 6 that warns that grace i by no means is any license to sin at all.
(Romans 6:1) What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?
(Romans 6:2) By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
(Romans 6:3) Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
(Romans 6:4) We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
(Romans 6:5) For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
(Romans 6:6) We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
(Romans 6:7) For one who has died has been set free from sin.
(Romans 6:8) Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
(Romans 6:9) We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.
(Romans 6:10) For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.
(Romans 6:11) So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
(Romans 6:12) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.
(Romans 6:13) Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
(Romans 6:14) For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
(Romans 6:15) What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
(Romans 6:16) Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
(Romans 6:17) But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,
(Romans 6:18) and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.
(Romans 6:19) I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
(Rom 6:20) For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
(Romans 6:21) But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
(Romans 6:22) But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Here are two even stronger messages in the book of Hebrews that warn sternly against sinning with grace, and they indicate that if one is not careful one can even lose their salvation. the first of these scriptures is in Hebrews 6
(Hebrews 6:4) For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit,
(Hebrews 6:5) and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come,
(Hebrews 6:6) and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
(Hebrews 6:7) For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God.
(Hebrews 6:8) But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.
(Hebrews 6:9) Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things--things that belong to salvation.
We certainly do not want to crucify Jesus yet again, do we? The other scripture being in Hebrews 10 again sternly warning against deliberate (and willful) sin, which I am largely led to believe is premeditated, and likely happening only after a pattern slowly builds.
(Hebrews 10:26) For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
(Hebrews 10:27) but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
(Hebrews 10:28) Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
(Hebrews 10:29) How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?
(Hebrews 10:30) For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people."
(Hebrews 10:31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Again the above warns that it is possible to throw away one’s salvation, if one is not careful. Now lets see what it is said in Mathew 7, saying it is not easy, and one must strive to follow the narrow road, how to recognize false teachers, the purpose of our being saved(to follow the Father’s will) and the wisdom of listening to Jesus words
(Matthew 7:13) "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
(Matthew 7:14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
(Matthew 7:15) "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
(Matthew 7:16) You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
(Matthew 7:17) So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.
(Matthew 7:18) A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.
(Matthew 7:19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
(Matthew 7:20) Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
(Matthew 7:21) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
(Matthew 7:22) On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'
(Matthew 7:23) And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
(Matthew 7:24) "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
(Matthew 7:25) And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
(Matthew 7:26) And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
(Matthew 7:27) And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."
One good thing is that God won’t let us be tempted more than we can handle, as it says in this verse
(1 Corinthians 10:13) No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
I am going to give some advice of how to live in grace, not sin or by yielding to the demands of the flesh by presenting some scripture from the epistles; the first scripture is in Colossians chapter 3
(Colossians 3:1) If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
(Colossians 3:2) Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
(Colossians 3:3) For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
(Colossians 3:4) When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
(Colossians 3:5) Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
(Colossians 3:6) On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
(Colossians 3:7) In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.
(Colossians 3:8) But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
(Colossians 3:9) Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices
(Colossians 3:10) and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
(Colossians 3:11) Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
(Colossians 3:12) Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
(Colossians 3:13) bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
(Colossians 3:14) And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
(Colossians 3:15) And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
(Colossians 3:16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
(Colossians 3:17) And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
The best thing is to do all in the Name of Jesus And also Galatians 5 and 6, which have similar warnings and encouragements
(Galatians 5:13) For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
(Galatians 5:14) For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
(Galatians 5:15) But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.
(Galatians 5:16) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
(Galatians 5:17) For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
(Galatians 5:18) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
(Galatians 5:19) Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
(Galatians 5:20) idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
(Galatians 5:21) envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
(Galatians 5:22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
(Galatians 5:23) gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
(Galatians 5:24) And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
(Galatians 5:25) If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
(Galatians 5:26) Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
(Galatians 6:1) Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
(Galatians 6:2) Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:3) For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
(Galatians 6:4) But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.
(Galatians 6:5) For each will have to bear his own load.
(Galatians 6:6) One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.
(Galatians 6:7) Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
(Galatians 6:8) For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
(Galatians 6:9) And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
(Galatians 6:10) So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Of course Satan is always seeking to cause people to sin and fall away, as stated here, and that we should humble ourselves to God and resist Satan, for he always is looking for some to pounce on and devour as a lion would its prey.
(1 Peter 5:6) Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
(1 Peter 5:7) casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
(1 Peter 5:8) Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:9) Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
Also this message is shared in James 4, encouraging submission to God and to resist the devil and his tempations.
(James 4:5) Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"?
(James 4:6) But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
(James 4:7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
(James 4:8) Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Here is the spiritual warfare passage in Ephesians 6 to help out with resisting the devil and his fiery darts (temptations):
(Ephesians 6:10) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
(Ephesians 6:11) Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
(Ephesians 6:12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
(Ephesians 6:13) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
(Ephesians 6:14) Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
(Ephesians 6:15) and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
(Ephesians 6:16) In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
(Ephesians 6:17) and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
(Ephesians 6:18) praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
God wants us to come back and to especially to be in a good love relationship with Him. I will present the aspect of how He wants us back and a big step is to confess sins as said in 1 John
(1John 1:5) This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
(1John 1:6) If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
(1John 1:7) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
(1John 1:8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
(1John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(1John 1:10) If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
He does want to forgive us, really. He loves us that much, and hates it when we do turn away from him. These parables accurately indicate how God longs to welcome us back to the fold, this is especially so of the parable of the prodigal son:
(Luke 15:4) "What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?
(Luke 15:5) And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
(Luke 15:6) And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.'
(Luke 15:7) Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
(Luke 15:8) "Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it?
(Luke 15:9) And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.'
(Luke 15:10) Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
(Luke 15:11) And he said, "There was a man who had two sons.
(Luke 15:12) And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them.
(Luke 15:13) Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.
(Luke 15:14) And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.
(Luke 15:15) So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
(Luke 15:16) And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.
(Luke 15:17) "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!
(Luke 15:18) I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
(Luke 15:19) I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."'
(Luke 15:20) And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
(Luke 15:21) And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
(Luke 15:22) But the father said to his servants, 'Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.
(Luke 15:23) And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate.
(Luke 15:24) For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate.
(Luke 15:25) "Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
(Luke 15:26) And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.
(Luke 15:27) And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.'
(Luke 15:28) But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him,
(Luke 15:29) but he answered his father, 'Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
(Luke 15:30) But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!'
(Luke 15:31) And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
(Luke 15:32) It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.'"
Now an encouragement to walk in the spirit and not after the flesh and to be loving to one another and not grieving the spirit of God, as expressed in Ephesians 4 and 5:
(Ephesians 4:17) Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.
(Ephesians 4:18) They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.
(Ephesians 4:19) They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
(Ephesians 4:20) But that is not the way you learned Christ!--
(Ephesians 4:21) assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
(Ephesians 4:22) to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
(Ephesians 4:23) and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
(Ephesians 4:24) and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
(Ephesians 4:25) Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
(Ephesians 4:26) Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
(Ephesians 4:27) and give no opportunity to the devil.
(Ephesians 4:28) Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
(Ephesians 4:29) Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
(Ephesians 4:30) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
(Ephesians 4:31) Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
(Ephesians 4:32) Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
(Ephesians 5:1) Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
(Ephesians 5:2) And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
(Ephesians 5:3) But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
(Ephesians 5:4) Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
(Ephesians 5:5) For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
(Ephesians 5:6) Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
(Ephesians 5:7) Therefore do not become partners with them;
(Ephesians 5:8) for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
(Ephesians 5:9) (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),
(Ephesians 5:10) and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
(Ephesians 5:11) Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
(Ephesians 5:12) For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
(Ephesians 5:13) But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible,
(Ephesians 5:14) for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
(Ephesians 5:15) Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
(Ephesians 5:16) making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
(Ephesians 5:17) Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
(Ephesians 5:18) And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
(Ephesians 5:19) addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,
(Ephesians 5:20) giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
(Ephesians 5:21) submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
One last verse to actually confess our sins and issues to one another and pray for one another as that can be very effective
(James 5:16) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
Here is a prayer that you can say with me so God can act and help you get back on your feet after stumbling and falling to temptation and so forth
Behold me, O my God, at Your feet! I do not deserve mercy, but O my Redeemer, the blood with You have shed for me encourages me and obliges me to hope for it. How often I have offended You, repented, and yet have I again fallen into the same sin. O my God, I wish to amend, and in order to be faithful to You, I will place all my confidence in You. I will, whenever I am tempted, instantly have recourse to You. Until now, I have trusted in my own promises and resolutions and have neglected to recommend myself to You in my temptations. This has been the cause of my repeated failures. From this day forward, be You, O Lord, my strength, and this shall I be able to do all things, for “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.” Amen.
Lastly a prayer to invite Jesus into your heart or re-invite Jesus back, if need be, He will welcome you either way, for He loves you:
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
Amen.
God bless you and yours
