4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office :
Make your call and election sure. 2 Peter 1:10 A recent preacher spoke from a distant land where he's gone to evangelize the word of God and possibly establish a church and he tried to clarify and speak about the word apostles even maybe where these titles as deacon or prophets and the labels sometimes how they are applied incorrectly or without true understanding. He spoke about the gifts of the Holy Ghost. For example some are given to teach, others are called to ministry in some capacity to possibly administer the word of God. Others are called to heal people. Others are called for the perfection of the saints. He went into unbiblical terms that people use such as "missionary" and other words and I found it interesting as he gave distinction to certain groups but to make his point I believe. He talked about all the different ministries out there and the preachers possibly in church buildings is that they know they are called if at all. And he went into all of this and I found it interesting. All of this you know as I say there are people in ministry for many years even street preachings and there are differences among them that I've noticed strongly. So for example the americans street preachers might discuss something but their firm in their belief especially evangelizing preaching to the LGBT community flaunting their privates. And in any ministry whether it be truly called by God I believe there has to be discernment. That's their business. So all of this got me to think about the thief on the cross because somebody like pastor David Lynn is more in the essence of a forgiving ministry. He's not going to preach Hellfire like for example Ruben Israel and his ministry did. I don't see that in that capacity in Canada. I am even astonished that you don't see street preachers at every facet of so many street corners like you see in other parts of the world and I wonder why? So as I say that is up to them the different ministries/congregations if they are called to do so. But here's what I've noticed having a tad of experience in the physical in life seeing these things played out in a courtroom either in person or on podcast.
The thief on the cross was a thief so you have to ask yourself if we are to forgive it doesn't appear he's called a murderer or somebody who killed somebody why couldn't he be forgiven in his time. Why was he nailed to a cross when even Christ accused the Pharisees or the religious leaders of that day of not exercising forgiveness, mercy along with judgment? Maybe the penalty for such things were very harsh at that time so I understand the time was different than today unless you live in a nation that is opposed to the gospel. He was nailed to a cross injured in great agony and you would think he would be screaming in pain. Instead in his anguish he realized his just punishment. That was enough all taken into consideration the messiah, the Christ on the cross forgave him and granted him eternal life in paradise. I don't write these things specifically to bring divisions but it's important. Just to put aside before I continue some of the martyrs of Jesus who stood and did not love their own lives to the death as written in the Book of Revelation were firm and hot for Christ. They believed in what they were doing given their choices and circumstance. Now he said he's the God of life but their choices were limited and the situation called to be firm like the three that were thrown into the furnace Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and Christ showed up and saved them. Daniel 3:16-18
Where do we draw distinctions of preaching where one group let's say street preachers even to the LGBT community flaunting their privates would still preach grace and Jesus loves you. Meanwhile others will have huge banners and warn them of the judgment to come. Either way God's going to give the increase if it's called for. The Bible says that the word does not return void. But please hear my two cents for a minute. Say in a courtroom and I've watched the videos and studied this you have a defendant that did a grave crime. They're screaming at the judge and calling the judge and lawyers all kinds of names sometimes jumping over the tables and they have to be restrained. Sometimes some of these judges have so much patience and they try to settle the person down and see if they can continue. There's been podcasts were some of these judges had to fine the defendant over and over sometimes including the lawyers and having them restrained and thrown out of the courtroom. Sometimes brawls would break out and the people being the observers in the courtroom would all start fighting and now you have a huge chaotic situation and deputies are called in and it becomes very violent and hard to control. You see these types of people show no mercy and respect for the court. They show no willingness to own their wrongs. So you see you cant serve two masters and God is graceful to those who show mercy and are forgiving but are like the wisdomed thief on the cross that was willing to repent.
In my after contemplation thank you Bryan for an interesting look at profound truth and very good advise (Here)
