"JESUS THE SERVANT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-21

Jesus The Servant

Mark 12:29 'And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord':

MARK 12:28-30

Jesus repeatedly made reference to His deity for which the Jews had sought to kill Him, and yet He quotes from Deuteronomy 6:4, that 'The Lord our God is one Lord.' There are not two or three Gods and yet Jesus claimed to be God just like God the Father. This union is a great mystery that defies human understanding but can be accepted and believed.

Jesus in His pre-existent state was in the form of God. 'In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' Jesus is God manifested in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). However, Jesus did not demand or cling to His rights as God. He laid aside His Divine rights and privileges in order to take the form of a servant and be made in the likeness of man. He further humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the Father, even to the point of death. This was the supreme sacrifice that identified Jesus totally with humanity and enabled God to redeem mankind. By dying a criminal's death upon the cross, Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy of Deuteronomy 21:23, and bore our curse in His own body. This redeemed us from the curse, opened wide God's blessing of justification through faith in Christ, and gave us the promise of His Holy Spirit (Gal. 3:13-14).

The Creator became the creation; the Lord became the servant; the Highest became the lowest. All of this was done because of God's great love for us.

"THE LAW, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

THE LAW, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

I WAS READING 1ST JOHN 2:2-3 AGAIN THIS MORNING AND WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD A PROBLEMS UNDERSTANDING THESE TWO VERSES.  THE VERSES READS AS FOLLOWS, "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who say, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him".  I HAD TO REMIND MYSELF THAT JOHN WAS TALKING TO THE JEWS WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW OF MOSES. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF LAWS THAT PERTAINED TO JUST ABOUT EVERY ASPECT OF THE JEWISH LIFE INCLUDING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS WHICH IS CALLED THE LAW.

SINCE JESUS WENT TO THE CROSS FOR US, WE HAVE BEEN REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW.  LOOK AT GALATIANS 3:13 WHERE IT SAYS "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree."  WE, AS CHRISTIANS, ARE UNDER GRACE, NOT THE LAW, FOR IT SAYS IN EPHESIANS 2:5 THAT "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.)"

NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE GOOD AND WE SHOULD TRY TO OBEY THEM BUT THEY WERE GIVEN TO SHOW MANKIND THAT THEY NEEDED A SAVIOR.  PAUL PUTS IT THIS WAY IN ROMANS 7:7 WHERE HE SAYS "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."  HE ALSO SAID IN ROMANS 5:13 For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

JUST REMEMBER THIS, WE ALL SHOULD LIVE AS HOLY AS WE CAN BUT NONE OF US CAN COME CLOSE TO LIVING A SINLESS LIFE.  THAT IS WHY WE NEEDED JESUS. JOHN 1:17 PUTS IT THIS WAY "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."  LIKE I SAID, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE GOOD BUT KEEPING THEM WILL NOT GET YOU SAVED. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO THE FATHER AND THAT IS THROUGH JESUS.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"THE LOVE OF GOD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

THE LOVE OF GOD

THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TO OVER THE YEARS THAT SAY GOD WAS ANGRY WITH ADAM AND EVE AND THAT IS WHY HE PUT THEM OUT OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN.  THAT IS NOT TRUE.  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN GENESIS 3:22-24 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.  THE TRUTH IS THAT HE DID IT BECAUSE HE LOVED THEM.  IF THEY HAD EATEN FROM THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL, WHAT IS TO SAY THEY WOULD NOT HAVE EATEN FROM THE TREE OF LIFE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT WOULD HAVE MEANT?  GOD DID.

JUST THINK A MINUTE, THEY HAD JUST GIVEN UP EVERYTHING BY DISOBEYING GOD.  THAT MEANT THAT THEY COULD GET ALL THE SICKNESS AND DISEASES THAT ARE MENTIONED IN THE CURSE.  LET'S LOOK AT THIS IN A SIMPLE WAY THAT WE CAN RELATE TO.  CAN YOU IMAGINE GOING THROUGH LIFE BLIND? CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING BLIND AND LIVING FOREVER.  HOW ABOUT CANCER, HEART PROBLEMS, OR ANY DISEASE?  CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING FOREVER AND HAVING SOME OF THESE?  THIS IS WHY I SAY THAT GOD PUT THEM OUT OF THE GARDEN BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR THEM.  HE EVEN PUT ANGELS THERE TO KEEP THEM OUT.

I WILL TELL YOU HOW MUCH GOD LOVED THEM.  HE DIDN'T EVEN IMPUTE THEIR SIN AGAINST THEM.  ACTUALLY, HE DIDN'T EVEN HOLD CAIN'S SIN OF KILLING ABLE AGAINST HIM.  IT TELLS US THIS IN ROMANS 5:12-13 WHERE IT SAYS "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law."  THE LAW, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, DID NOT COME UNTIL MOSES, MANY YEARS LATER.

SO, GOD WAS NOT HOLDING SINS AGAINST THE PEOPLE THEN, BEFORE THE LAW, AND HE IS NOT HOLDING OUR SINS AGAINST US NOW SINCE JESUS.  JESUS DIED FOR "ALL" SIN, THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.  NOW THAT IS LOVE.

I KNOW I KEEP REPEATING MYSELF BUT THAT IS HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS.  IF YOU ARE NOT BORN AGAIN, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ACCEPT THE GIFT OF SALVATION.  GOD LOVES YOU AND ONLY SEES YOU, NOT YOUR SIN, BUT YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT JESUS.  JUST THINK, TODAY COULD BE YOUR DAY OF SALVATION.  THAT GREAT LOVE THAT HE SHOWED TO ADAM AND EVE EXTENDS TO YOU TODAY.  JESUS DIED FOR YOU...WON'T YOU TRUST HIM AND LIVE FOR HIM?

YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN A CHURCH, YOU CAN DO IT RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE AND RIGHT NOW.  JUST THINK ABOUT IT, LIVING IN HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE WITH ALL YOUR LOVE ONES WHO ARE THERE AND THE ONES THAT WILL BE THERE INSTEAD OF BURNING IN HELL FOR ETERNITY.  THE DECISION IS YOURS BUT JESUS WANTS YOU TO SAY YES TO HIM.  WON'T YOU DO THAT?

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"THE TWO GREATEST COMMANDS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-20

The Two Greatest Commands

Matthew 22:36 'Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.'

MATTHEW 22:34-46

Jesus revealed that all of the Old Testament laws were designed to instruct us how to love God and love others. Therefore, the two commands that dealt directly with loving God and others (Lev. 19:18 and Dt. 6:5) were the most important.

The religious leaders had become so obsessed with keeping every minor detail of the law that they had lost sight of its ultimate purpose. They neither loved God nor their fellow man, yet they thought they were keeping the law.

The same thing is happening today. Some of the cruelest acts of men towards their fellow men have been done in the name of the Lord by people who thought they were defending God's holy commandments. However, if we violate one of the two greatest commandments in an effort to enforce some other commandment, then we are misapplying God's Word just as these religious Jews did.

The Old Testament law and the New Testament concept of grace compels men to the same end, that is to love God and their fellowmen. However, the motivations to this end are different. The Old Testament law motivated men to love God and their fellowman through fear of punishment if they failed to comply. The New Testament concept of grace freely gives men a God-kind of love that is unconditional and tells them to love others as they are loved.

It is possible to display actions of holiness, but not love God. It is impossible for God's kind of love not to produce holiness. Holiness is a fruit and not a root of loving God.

"MARRIAGE IS FOR THIS LIFE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-19

Marriage Is For This Life

Luke 20:33-34 'Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:'

LUKE 20:27-40

It is very doubtful that the situation that the Sadducees were relating ever took place. It is more probable that they were stating a hypothetical case to complicate the understanding of the resurrection and thereby discredit it.

If you accept their basic supposition (marriage continues in heaven), then their reasoning was correct. It would not be possible to administer marriage in heaven with multiple mates as their story described. Their reasoning wasn't flawed, but rather the 'facts' that their reasoning was based on were not scriptural.

The scriptures speak of two becoming 'one flesh' in marriage, and angels are not flesh. Paul said, 'Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God' (1 Cor. 15:50). Therefore, marriage is an earthly institution limited to flesh and blood mortals and will not exist in heaven. Marriage, as is death, is temporary for mortals while they are on earth. This is why a person whose mate has died, is free to remarry. Marriage pertains only to this life.

That is not to say that a couple who have loved each other deeply here on earth will love each other less in heaven. God forbid. They will love each other infinitely more, but it will be God's 'agape' love (not romantic love) and it will not be limited to just one person. We can be sure that heaven will surpass any expectations that we may have so that no one will be disappointed.

Today, many people use logical reasoning to try to discredit God's Word. But Jesus said, 'They err because they do not know the scriptures.' Therefore, their arguments have no merit; only reasoning based on scripture has any merit.

"ENJOYING THE WORD OF GOD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

ENJOYING THE WORD OF GOD

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE VERSE IN THE BIBLE?  MOST PEOPLE DO BUT ARE THERE A LOT OF VERSES YOU CAN REMEMBER?  I AM GOING TO LIST A FEW BELOW AND SEE IF YOU HAVE HEARD THESE BEFORE.

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.  (1ST THESSALONIANS 5:15)

Rejoice evermore.  ( 1ST THESSALONIANS 5:16)

Pray without ceasing.   ( 1ST THESSALONIANS 5:17)

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.   ( 1ST THESSALONIANS 5:18)

Quench not the Spirit.  (1 ST THESSALONIANS 5:19)

Despise not prophesying   (1 ST THESSALONIANS 5:20)

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.   (1 ST THESSALONIANS 5:21)

Abstain from all appearance of evil.   (1 ST THESSALONIANS 5:22)

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.   (1 ST THESSALONIANS 5:23)

IF YOU ARE LIKE ME, YOU PROBABLY COULD HAVE FINISHED EVERY ONE OF THESE GIVEN THE FIRST FEW WORDS.  AS YOU CAN SEE, THE INTERESTING THING IS THAT THESE ARE ALL LISTED IN ONE CHAPTER,  IN ORDER.  AS MANY TIMES AS I HAVE READ 1ST THESSALONIANS, I NEVER NOTICED THIS.

I WROTE ALL OF THIS TO TRY TO EXPLAIN HOW INTERESTING THE WORD OF GOD IS.  EVERY TIME I STUDY IT, I FIND SOMETHING NEW OR HOLY SPIRIT POINTS OUT SOMETHING NEW FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND.  GET INTO THE WORD TODAY AND REALLY STUDY.  THIS IS THE WAY THE LORD TALKS TO US.  HE IS WAITING FOR YOU.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

WE NEED TO LET JESUS LIVE THROUGH US

IN GALATIANS 2:20 PAUL SAYS "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."  I LOVE THIS VERSE.  WE USUALLY SAY THAT WE LIVE BY THE FAITH "IN" JESUS BUT PAUL PUTS IT DIFFERENCE HERE WHEN HE SAYS HE LIVES BY THE FAITH "OF" JESUS.  HE WAS USING THE FAITH OF JESUS FOR WHAT JESUS HAD ALREADY DONE.  PAUL GOT THIS FAITH THE SAME PLACE WE GET IT, ROMANS 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

WE ALL HAVE BEEN GIVEN "THE" MEASURE OF FAITH.  MANY CHRISTIANS DON'T REALIZE WHAT THEY HAVE BECAUSE THEIR FAITH IS IN THEIR BORN AGAIN SPIRIT AND THEY DON'T TRUST IN THE REVELATION OF HOLY SPIRIT TO SHOW THEM.  I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS LACK OF FAITH BUT THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. THEY HAVE TO GET INTO GOD'S WORD TO LEARN.

I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEARD THE TERM "DYING TO SELF". THIS IS WHAT PAUL WAS SAYING BUT NOTICE THE DEATH WAS THROUGH WHAT JESUS HAD ALREADY DONE.  WE CAN'T BE SELF-CENTERED AND CHRIST-CENTERED AT THE SAME TIME. ALWAYS THINKING OF NEGATIVE THING ABOUT OURSELVES MAKES US SELF-CENTERED BUT DOESN'T MEAN WE SHOULD HATE OURSELVES, BUT THAT WE SHOULD LOVE JESUS MORE THAN OURSELVES.  PAUL WAS NOT JUST DEAD TO SELF BUT HE WAS ALIVE TO GOD AND THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE TO DO, BE ALIVE TO GOD.  PAUL'S "OLD MAN" WAS DEAD THROUGH JESUS LIKE IT SAYS IN ROMANS 6:2-11.  HE WAS TRULY FREE TO LIVE, BUT IT WASN'T ACTUALLY PAUL WHO WAS LIVING, IT WAS JESUS  LIVING THROUGH HIM.  PAUL HAD LEARNED THE SECRET OF VICTORIOUS CHRISTIAN LIVING AS WE SHOULD.  IT IS NOT US LIVING FOR JESUS BUT JESUS LIVING THROUGH US.

WE WALK UNDER GRACE WHEN WE FOCUS OF WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR US.  OUR CHRISTIAN LIFE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO LIVE IN OUR HUMAN STRENGTH AND TO WALK IN VICTORY WE MUST LET JESUS LIVE THROUGH US.  HE IS WILLING AND ABLE TO DO THIS IF WE JUST LET HIM.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HEAVEN" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-18

Heaven

Mark 12:25 'For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.'

The word heaven comes from the Greek word meaning 'the sky; heaven as the abode of God'; by implication, 'happiness; power; an eternity.'

Paul mentioned being caught up into 'the third heaven' in 2 Corinthians 12:2. Since 'the third heaven' exists, there must also be a first and second heaven. The first is probably the atmospheric heaven, the second, the abode of supernatural angelic beings, and the third, the place where God dwells.

God now dwells in the hearts of His people, but He also sits on His throne in heaven. The Lord's commitment to dwell in us and never leave us or forsake us, must be taken as an indication of His great love for us. Heaven has a real temple which is patterned after the Old Testament tabernacle. Saints who die go immediately into heaven and into the presence of God.

Paul had a vision of heaven that made him long to go there. Most people cling to this physical life for selfish reasons. Only when we lose our life (die to self and live for Christ and others) do we truly find out what life is all about. If we seriously thought about what the scriptures teach us about our life with Christ after this physical life, we would all think like Paul. The things prepared for us are so wonderful that we can't totally comprehend them with our finite mind. We need to value our eternal life more and our temporal life less. This would solve many problems and remove a lot of grief.

"TAKE NO THOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-17

TAKE NO THOUGHT FOR YOUR LIFE

I WAS READING MATTHEW 6 AND IN VERSES 25 IT TALKS ABOUT NOT THINKING ABOUT OUR LIVES OR THE THINGS WE NEED TO SURVIVE.  (MATTHEW 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?)  I WONDERED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE HOW COULD WE NOT THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS.  JESUS, HIMSELF, THOUGHT ABOUT PAYING HIS TAXES.  (MATTHEW 17:27 Notw ithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.)  WHY WOULD JESUS TELL US TO "TAKE NO THOUGHT" OF THESE THINGS.

THE ANSWER LIES IN WHAT THE WORD "THOUGHT" OR THE GREEK WORD "MERIMNAO", WHICH WAS USED HERE MEANS.  IT MEANS "TO BE ANXIOUS OR CAREFUL".  WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO WORRY OR BE PREOCCUPIED WITH THINKING ABOUT OUR NEEDS. THE BIBLE SAYS GOD KNOWS OUR NEEDS BEFORE WE EVEN ASK HIM.  IF WE DO BECOME PREOCCUPIED WITH ALL THE THINGS WE NEED, THEN WE CANNOT FULLY GIVE GOD THE TIME HE DESERVES. THIS, IN TURN, TAKES AWAY FROM HAVING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM.

JESUS TELLS US IN MATTHEW 6:19-21 TO "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."  I WANT MY HEART TO BE IN HEAVEN, HOW ABOUT YOU?  HE ALSO SAYS IN LUKE 12:31 "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."  LET'S SEEK HIM, NOT JUST BECAUSE ALL OF THESE THINGS WILL BE ADDED, BUT JUST BECAUSE WE LOVE HIM.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"THE RESURRECTION POWER" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-09-17

The Resurrection Power

Matthew 22:23 'The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,'

The Greek word used here for resurrection means 'a standing or rising up.' The resurrection is a major theme of New Testament teaching. Out of the 13 sermons in the book of Acts, 11 stress or simply mention the resurrection.

Man consists of three parts - a spirit, a soul, and a body (1 Th. 5:23). The body is mortal while the spirit and soul are immortal. At death, man's body goes through the decomposition process and returns to its original elements.

At the resurrection, man's departed soul and spirit are called forth from either heaven or hell. The material elements of the body are raised up, reassembled, and united with the spirit and soul. Thus we have the complete personality of the individual reconstituted. Everyone will be resurrected - some to life, and some to damnation.

The hope of the believer is the resurrection unto life. The natural, earthly, terrestrial, corrupt, weak, mortal, vile body is said to be raised, changed and fashioned into a spiritual, heavenly, celestial, incorrupt, glorious, powerful, and immortal body. This is the completion of everything that has been purchased for us in Christ.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:12-17 that if there is no resurrection, then our faith is vain and we are yet in our sins. It is the resurrected life of Jesus that brings spiritual life into us and the resurrection of the body that brings physical regeneration, reconstituting us into the very image of God. The transformation from this physical condition to our glorified bodies will be a huge difference, but the power of God can accomplish it easily. If the Lord can work that miracle, then surely, He can heal our bodies and free us from other bondages.
