"JESUS -- GOD AND MAN" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2018-11-12
"JESUS -- GOD AND MAN" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

BEFORE I GET STARTED THIS MORNING, I WOULD LIKE TO CLEAR SOMETHING UP.    PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ME WHY I KEEP SAYING THAT JESUS IS GOD INSTEAD OF THE SON OF GOD.  HE IS BOTH.  LET'S READ JOHN 1:1-2 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God."   NOW WE HAVE TO SEE WHAT THE BIBLE WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN IT SAYS "THE WORD WAS GOD".  WHO IS THE WORD?  LET'S READ THE 14TH VERSE OF JOHN 1 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."  THAT COULD ONLY BE TALKING ABOUT JESUS SO JESUS IS THE WORD.

NOW THAT THAT IS CLEARED UP, LET'S LOOK AT HIS PUTTING AWAY HIS DIVINITY TO BECAME A MAN. THE BIBLE TELLS OF HIM EATING AND DRINKING, FEELING PAIN AND SLEEPING, ALL THE THINGS WE HUMANS DO.  JESUS EVEN CALLED HIMSELF "THE SON OF MAN". (LUKE 24:6-7 "He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again." AGAIN, THIS CAN ONLY BE JESUS.

I LIKE THE STORY IN MARK 4 ABOUT JESUS SLEEPING.  AFTER JESUS HAD BEEN TEACHING IN PARABLES ALL DAY; HE GOT INTO ONE OF THE BOATS AND SAID, "Let us pass over unto the other side."  YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THE BOATS BACK THEN DIDN'T HAVE CABINS BUT WERE OPEN AND JESUS GOT INTO THE BOAT, LAY DOWN ON A PILLOW IN THE BACK OF THE BOAT AND WENT TO SLEEP.  A BIG STORM AROSE AND THE BOAT STARTED FILLING WITH WATER.  JESUS, BEING A HUMAN MAN, MUST HAVE BEEN REALLY TIRED BECAUSE BEING AS WET AS HE MUST HAVE BEEN, HE WAS ASLEEP AND HIS DISCIPLES HAD TO WAKE HIM UP.

THE BIBLE SAYS THAT JESUS ALSO MUST SUFFER, (MATTHEW 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.)  AND IN MATTHEW 17:12 HE IS REFERRED TO AS THE "SON OF MAN", NOT THE "SON OF GOD", THUS PUTTING AWAY HIS DIVINITY. "But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them."

I SAY ALL THIS TO REMIND YOU HOW JESUS SUFFERED FOR US.  IT IS EASY TO JUST SAY THAT JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND NOT REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT ALL THAT WENT ON.   AS BAD AS THE PAIN AND SUFFERING WAS, I AM SURE THAT THE GREATEST PAIN WAS WHEN GOD TURNED AWAY FROM HIM (MATTHEW 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?)   JESUS HAD TAKEN UPON HIMSELF THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD AND THIS SIN WAS WHAT WAS KEEPING US FROM A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND JESUS TOTALLY REMOVED IT.  HE PAID FOR IT ALL....IN FULL.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN HAVE THAT CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD BECAUSE GOD NOW SEES US THROUGH JESUS...WITHOUT SIN.  IF YOU DON'T HAVE THAT CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, YOU CAN.  JESUS MADE IT POSSIBLE SO GO TO HIM, TALK TO HIM. LAUGH WITH HIM, CRY WITH HIM...HE IS RIGHT THERE WITH YOU ALL THE TIME.   ASK HIM WHAT YOU SHOULD DO ON THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE.  HE WILL TELL YOU BECAUSE HE WANTS THE BEST FOR YOU.  YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO FEEL ALONE AGAIN.  HE LOVES YOU!!!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"WALK IN THE LIGHT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2018-11-12
"WALK IN THE LIGHT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

How do you walk in the Spirit? The way you do this is through living by, conducting your actions according to, and following the leading of the Word of God as quickened to you by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God agree perfectly because the Holy Spirit is the one who inspired the written Word of God.

Denying the flesh will not result in walking in the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit will result in denying the flesh. This may seem like a subtle difference to some, but the difference is truly profound. As a whole, false religions teach that as we overcome our flesh, there is a noticeable increase in the presence and power of God in our lives. That was what the Pharisees of Jesus' day and the legalistic Jews of Paul's day taught. Just the opposite is true. As we experience more of the presence and power of the Spirit of God, then the influence of the flesh is diminished. Victory must come in this order. We don't walk in the Spirit as a result of overcoming the flesh, rather overcoming the flesh is the result of walking in the Spirit.

It's similar to how you fill a dark room with light. You don't shovel out the darkness and then light appears. No! You simply turn on the light and the darkness flees. Much of religion preaches to stop sinning (get rid of the darkness) and then the Holy Spirit will come and empower you (the light will come). That's not the way it works. Man can no more get rid of the power of the flesh on his own than he can get rid of the power of darkness without light. We have to receive the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives by grace and then the union with the Holy Spirit breaks the power of the flesh. The key to breaking the dominion of the flesh is to appropriate the power of the Spirit through faith, while the flesh is still causing us problems. Those who are waiting for the Spirit to manifest after they have subdued the flesh, will wait as long as the man who is trying to get rid of the darkness so the light will appear.

"HOW POWERFUL IS PRAYER?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"HOW POWERFUL IS PRAYER?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY JESUS' DISCIPLES ASKED HIM TO TEACH THEM TO PRAY INSTEAD OF HOW TO DO MIRACLE OR PREACH.  LOOK WHAT IS SAYS IN LUKE 11:1 "And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples'."?

HE WAS THE GREATEST MIRACLE WORKER AND PREACHER WHO EVER LIVED BUT I BELIEVE THE DISCIPLES KNEW JESUS' PRAYER LIFE WAS EVEN GREATER THAN ANYTHING ELSE AND IT GAVE HIM THE POWER TO DO WHAT HE DID.

JESUS SAID MANY TIMES THAT IT WAS HIS FATHER WHO WAS DOING THE MIRACLES THROUGH HIM.  MOST OF US KNOW THE "LORD'S PRAYER" BUT THIS WAS JESUS' WAY OF TEACHING THEM.  JESUS' REAL PRAYER IS IN JOHN 17 AND HE STARTS OUT BY PRAYING FOR HIS DISCIPLES BUT IN VERSE 20 HE STARTS PRAYING FOR US.  JUST READ IT BELOW.

JOHN 17:20-26 "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  (WE DO BELIEVE ON HIM THROUGH THE WORDS THEY HAVE WRITTEN)  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them."

HOW POWERFUL WAS THAT, JESUS WAS PRAYING FOR US.  PLEASE READ THE WHOLE CHAPTER AS YOU WILL BE BLESSED.

SPEND SOME TIME WITH THE LORD TODAY.  YOU WILL BE SO BLESSED AND LET'S PRAY FOR EACH OTHER EVERY DAY.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"EXERCISE YOUR SOUL" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2018-11-11
"EXERCISE YOUR SOUL" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Our spirit is not our problem. The born-again Christian receives a new spirit at conversion, that is just like Jesus' (1 Jn. 4:17) because it is the Spirit of Jesus. Our born-again spirit is always willing to do God's will. It's our flesh that is the problem.

The flesh, as Jesus describes it here, not only includes our physical body but also describes our soul. God has given every believer everything it takes to walk in victory, but "we have this treasure in earthen vessels" (2 Cor. 4:7). That is saying that our spirit, where God has deposited all of His power and glory, is locked inside our flesh.

That does not mean that we cannot tap into this divine source. As much as we will renew our minds and act on the Word of God, we can experience this divine flow through our physical bodies. However, just as we must use our muscles to increase in strength, we must exercise ourselves (soul, mind and body) unto godliness (1 Tim. 4:7-8).

Prayer is one important way of exercising ourselves unto godliness, and is why Jesus admonished His disciples to watch and pray with Him.

"YOU HAVE IT ALL -- IN THE SPIRIT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

The Bible presents salvation as a life transforming experience. Change is one of the distinguishing characteristics of a true believer. Yet, failure to understand that this change takes place in the spirit first, and then is reflected in our outward appearance through our thoughts and actions in direct proportion to the way we renew our minds, causes much confusion.

This change has to take place in our born-again spirit first. Why is that? If you were fat before you got saved, you will be fat after you get saved, unless you go on a weight loss program. Your body doesn't instantly change and neither does your soul or mind.

It is your spirit that is instantly changed at salvation. It is perfect (Heb. 12:23). It cannot sin (1 Jn. 3:9). Everything that is true of Jesus is true of our born-again spirit. Your spiritual salvation is complete. At salvation, you receive the same spirit that you will have throughout all eternity. It will not have to be changed or cleansed again. It is sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13) and therefore, is sanctified and perfected forever (Heb. 10:10, 14; 12:23).

For the remainder of our Christian life, we must not try to obtain faith, joy or love from God, but rather release what we already have in our spirits (Gal. 5:22-23) into our soul and body. Failure to understand this has caused some people to despair when they don't see sufficient change in their life after coming to the Lord for salvation. It must be understood that the change is internal in our spirit and the outward change will take place as we renew our minds through God's Word.

"FAITH -- HAVING IT AND USING IT" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ASKED HOW THEY CAN GET FAITH.  I HAVE TAUGHT ON THIS SEVERAL TIMES  BUT EVIDENTLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH SINCE SOME ARE STILL ASKING. WELL, THE EASIEST WAY TO FIND OUT IS GOING TO GOD'S WORD.

THE BIBLE SAYS WE ALREADY HAVE FAITH AND WE ALL WERE GIVEN THE SAME AMOUNT.  LOOK WHAT THE APOSTLE PAUL SAYS IN HIS LETTER TO THE ROMANS IN CHAPTER 12, VERSE 3, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."  WE USE OUR FAITH EVERY DAY.  WHEN YOU SIT IN A CHAIR YOU HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT CHAIR IS GOING TO HOLD YOUR WEIGHT OR YOU WOULDN'T SIT IN IT.  JUST THINK OF ALL THE THINGS YOU DO DAILEY WHERE YOU USE YOUR FAITH.  THE PROBLEM IS THAT SOME DON'T USE THEIRS IN THEIR SPIRITUAL LIFE.

NOW SOME HAVE ASKED HOW THEY CAN GET MORE OR INCREASE THEIR FAITH.  WELL AGAIN, THE BEST WAY TO FIND THINGS OUT IS TO GO TO GOD'S WORD.  PAUL ALSO SAYS IN ROMANS 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  GET INTO YOUR BIBLE AND LISTEN TO WHAT GOD HAS TO SAY.

NOW THERE ARE TWO PASSAGES I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT TODAY.  THE FIRST IS MATTHEW 9:18-19 WHERE IT SAYS "While he spake these things unto them, (JESUS WAS TEACHING ON NOT PATCHING OLD CLOTHES WITH NEW CLOTH AND NOT PUTTING NEW WINE IN OLD SKINS) behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples."    MATTHEW 9:23-25 GOES ON TO SAY "And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose."  WE CAN SEE FROM THAT PASSAGE THAT JESUS WILL MEET US RIGHT WHERE WE ARE. THE RULER COULD BELIEVE THAT IF JESUS WOULD GO TO HIS DAUGHTER AND LAY HANDS ON HER SHE WOULD COME BACK TO LIFE.  WE KNOW THAT JESUS COULD HAVE JUST SPOKE THE WORDS AND MADE THIS HAPPEN BUT HE MET THE RULER RIGHT WHERE HIS FAITH WAS AND WENT TO HIS DAUGHTER.

THE SECOND PASSAGE IS ABOUT THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD,  THIS WAS ON THE ROAD WHILE JESUS WAS GOING TO THE RULER'S HOUSE TO BRING HIS DAUGHTER BACK TO LIFE.  MATTHEW 9:20-21 SAYS "And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole."  WITH ALL THE PEOPLE TOUCHING JESUS, HE FELT POWER GO OUT OF HIMSELF WHEN THE WOMAN TOUCH HIM.  THIS WOMAN HAD SO MUCH FAITH THAT SHE KNEW THAT IF SHE COULD ONLY TOUCH HIS GARMENT, SHE WOULD BE HEALED.  SHE DID THIS HERSELF AND JESUS TOLD HER SO, "THY FAITH HATH MADE THEE WHOLE".

SO USE YOUR FAITH.  READ YOUR BIBLE AND LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE READING.  WHAT YOU NEED IS ALL THERE TO BUILD YOUR FAITH AND HOW WILL YOU BUILD IT IF YOU DON'T READ YOUR BIBLE.  PAUL INCLUDES THIS SCRIPTURE IN HIS TEACHING ON FAITH AND IT SURE SAYS A LOT.  HEBREWS 12:1-2 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON ALL THAT IS GOOD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Mark 14:38 "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."

Temptation is linked directly to what we think upon (Heb. 11:15). Temptation has to be entered into. We can avoid temptation by avoiding thoughts that generate temptation (Prov. 23:7). Since it is impossible to not think, we cannot just try to reject the negative thoughts in this world, but we must choose to think on the positive truths of God. This is where prayer comes in.

In prayer, we have our minds stayed upon God and therefore, are not receptive to thoughts that conceive temptation. Temptation or sin must be conceived (Jas. 1:14-15). In the physical realm, the easiest way to avoid an unwanted birth is to avoid conception, so it is in the spiritual world.

It is easier to avoid being tempted by being in constant communion with God, than it is to overcome temptation once it has been conceived.

Paul admonishes the Philippian believers to reflect and meditate upon eight positive principles of thinking that will lead to a victorious Christian life (Phil. 4:8). These are things that are "true," that is: honorable, truthful and upright. Things that are "honest," that is: honorable, truthful, genuine, not characterized by deception or fraud. Things that are "just," that is: in accordance with what is right, or right conduct; any circumstance, fact or deed that is right. Things that are "pure," free from defilement or impurity.

Things that are "lovely," pleasing, agreeable, inspiring love or affection. A "good report," that is: a saying or report that is positive and constructive rather than negative and destructive. "Virtue," which is moral excellence, righteousness and goodness. "Praise," or what is praiseworthy; expressing one's esteem of a person and his virtues. We need to focus on the good in every area of our lives. Recognizing God's hand in even the smallest things will bring peace and keep our hearts and minds following hard after the Lord.

"ARE YOU LIKE SHREK, THE SHEEP?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2018-11-09
"ARE YOU LIKE SHREK, THE SHEEP?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

THIS MORNING, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A STORY I FOUND ON "GODVINE", A CHRISTIAN WEB SITE.  IT IS A TRUE STORY ABOUT SHREK, A SHEEP, AND IF YOU WANT TO READ THE COMPLETE STORY YOU CAN GO TO THAT WEB SITE.  I COULDN'T FIND THE NAME OF THE PERSON WHO PUT THIS LITTLE STORY TOGETHER BUT IT IS GREAT AND I THANK WHOEVER IT WAS.  NOW FOR THE STORY.

Shrek, the sheep, became famous a little while back for hiding out in caves, by himself, for six years. Because of his isolation, his fleece was never shorn. It grew and grew; and by the time he was finally shaved, the amount of fleece that fell away from his body weighed sixty pounds. Most sheep have a fleece weighing under ten pounds; sometimes it's more, but never by much.

For six years, Shrek carried six times the regular weight of his fleece... all because he was away from his shepherd. This is reminiscent of John 10:1-5 when Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd, and we Christians are His sheep. If you think about it, Shrek is much like a person who knows Jesus but has wandered. If we avoid Jesus' constant refining of our soul, we’re going to accumulate extra weight in this worlda weight we don’t have to bear.

Jesus can easily lift the burdens we bear, if only we stop hiding. He can shave off our "fleece," that is, our self-imposed burdens brought about by wandering from Him, our Good Shepherd.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30 where he says “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

HAVE YOU WANDERED FROM JESUS AND NEEDED TO RETURN AND GET  YOUR "FLEECE" DEALT WITH.  HE IS WAITING FOR YOU BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU.  IT IS UP TO YOU.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HAVE YOU THE FAITH TO DO MIRACLES?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGH ABOUT WHY JESUS DID SO MANY MIRACLES?  HIS STATEMENT IN JOHN 4:48 GIVES US A CLUE WHEN HE SAYS "Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe."  I AM ASSUMING THAT "signs and wonders" ARE MIRACLES AS HE HAD JUST FINISHED CHANGING WATER INTO WINE AT THE WEDDING IN CANA.  WHILE HE WAS THERE, A NOBLEMAN ASK HIM TO COME TO CAPERNAUM AND HEAL HIS SON.  JESUS KNEW THE MANS FAITH AND SAID "Go thy way; thy son liveth".  THE MAN HAD FAITH TO BELIEVE JESUS AND JUST WENT HOME, KNOWING HIS SON WAS HEALED. THAT IS THE FAITH JESUS WANTS ALL OF US TO HAVE.

WITH WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT MIRACLES, HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY HIS DISCIPLES ASKED HIM TO TEACH THEM TO PRAY INSTEAD OF HOW TO DO MIRACLES?  THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS IN LUKE 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.  HE WAS THE GREATEST MIRACLE WORKER AND PREACHER WHO EVER LIVED BUT I BELIEVE THE DISCIPLES KNEW JESUS' PRAYER LIFE WAS EVEN GREATER THAN ANYTHING ELSE AND IT GAVE HIM THE POWER TO DO WHAT HE DID.  HE GOES ON TO TEACH THEM WHAT WE CALL "THE LORD'S PRAYER".

I BELIEVE WE NEED TO USE PRAYER AND MIRACLES IN OUR MINISTRY.  JESUS TELLS US IN JOHN 14:12 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."  THE GREATER THINGS ARE WHAT HE TALKS ABOUT IN MATTHEW 10:8 WHERE HE SAYS "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."  PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS WANTING TO KNOW WHY WE DON'T HAVE REVIVAL ANY MORE.  I GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF WE START GOING OUT AND RAISING THE DEAD, WE WILL HAVE ALL THE REVIVAL WE CAN HANDLE.

GET INTO GOD'S WORD AND STUDY TO BUILD YOUR FAITH TO THE POINT THAT YOU WILL HAVE NO DOUBTS AS TO YOUR BEING ABLE TO DO THESE THINGS.  PAUL TELLS US IN ROMANS 10:17 THAT "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  JESUS TOLD US TO DO IT SO NOW IT IS UP TO US.  I AM READY, ARE YOU?

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HIS FATHOMLESS PAIN" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2018-11-08
"HIS FATHOMLESS PAIN" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Luke 22:44 "And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

LUKE 22:43-44

It is interesting that Luke is the only one of the gospel writers to mention that Jesus' sweat was as great drops of blood. This is probably because Luke was a physician (Col. 4:14), and therefore, this had special significance to him.

There have been documented cases of people actually sweating drops of blood under extreme emotional pressure. This might explain why Luke is the only writer to mention the angel strengthening Jesus. Just as when Jesus encountered Satan during His forty days of fasting and temptation in the wilderness and the angels ministered unto Him (Mk. 1:13), so here, He needed supernatural strength to endure His sufferings.

The use of the words "as it were" might also mean that the sweat of Jesus was only comparable to blood in consistency or size, but it certainly underscores the effect Jesus' agony had on His physical body.

Jesus' sufferings for us were more than just physical. In the garden, before He suffered physically, He suffered emotionally, almost to the point of death. As Luke records, an angel had to come and give Him strength or the emotional struggle alone would have killed Him.

All that Jesus did was motivated solely by love. It was for the joy that was set before Him that He endured going to the cross. He didn't do what He did to save us out of pity or a sense of obligation as our Creator. He did it because He loves us.
