"HE BECAME LIKE US" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"HE BECAME LIKE US" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Luke 2:52, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

How could it be that Jesus, who was God (Jn. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:16), and in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, increased in wisdom? (Col. 2:3)

God is a Spirit (Jn. 4:24). Jesus, as God, had existed as a Spirit forever.

When He came to the earth as Jesus, he was Lord at birth, but that was in His Spirit (Lk. 2:11). His Spirit didn't have to grow or increase in wisdom but His physical body did.

The Lord could have done things differently, but He didn't. Jesus came into this world in His physical body exactly as we did. He had to grow and learn.

He became just like us so that we could become just like Him (2 Cor. 5:21).

This is the great exchange. He became like us so that He could bear all our iniquities and become a mercy high priest for us (Heb. 2:14-18).

Christianity does not produce a changed life but an exchanged life. Christ does not reform us, but He transforms us through His union with us. In the same way that the Eternal Christ could come and inhabit the body of an infant and still retain all His deity, He now inhabits our bodies through the new birth in all His glory and power. Like Jesus, grow in your wisdom and understanding of who you now are in Christ.

"THE POWER OF WORDS

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-01-22
"THE POWER OF WORDS

I WROTE IN THE PAST ABOUT THE POWER OF WORDS AND I DIDN'T MEAN THE "WORDS OF GOD", I MEANT THE IDLE WORDS WE SPEAK EVERY DAY.  JESUS SAYS IN MATTHEW 12:36-37 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."   CONDEMNATION AND JUSTIFICATION COME FROM THE WORDS WE SPEAK SO WE REALLY NEED TO WATCH WHAT WE ARE SAYING ALL THE TIME.  I WOULD MUCH RATHER BE JUSTIFIED BY SAYING SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT SOMEONE THAN CONDEMNED FOR SAYING SOMETHING I SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID.

WORDS ARE POWERFUL IN ANOTHER WAY TOO.  LOOK WHAT JESUS SAID IN MARK 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."  SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN (MOUNTAIN MEANING SOMETHING IN YOUR LIFE).  IF CANCER IS YOUR MOUNTAIN, SPEAK TO IT AND TELL IT TO LEAVE YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS.  LET'S JUST LOOK AT THIS NAME OF JESUS.  SCRIPTURE SAYS IN PHILIPPIANS 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  WHATEVER YOUR PROBLEM IS THE NAME OF JESUS IS ABOVE IT AND IT HAS TO BOW TO THAT NAME SO USE IT.

YOU MIGHT THINK THAT IS FUNNY BUT JESUS SPOKE TO A FIG TREE AND IT DIED FROM THE ROOTS.  WORDS ARE POWERFUL SPOKEN IN LOVE OR HATE, LIFE OR DEATH, HEALED OR SICK AND PROSPERING OR BEING WITHOUT. I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE "NAME IT AND CLAIM IT" CHRISTIANS BUT I DO BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD AND IF HE SAYS TO SPEAK TO MY PROBLEMS, THEN I AM GOING TO SPEAK TO IT.

ALSO, THERE ARE THINGS WE CAN ASK FOR AND JESUS SAID WE SHALL HAVE THEM.  WE JUST HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT THE THINGS WE ASK FOR HAVE TO LINE UP WITH GOD'S WORD AND IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING YOUR PRAYERS ANSWERED, DON'T GET MAD AT GOD.  HE IS NOT THE REASON.  IF WE ASK FOR SOMETHING THAT IS BAD FOR US OR GOD DOES NOT WANT US TO HAVE, HE JUST MIGHT SAY NO.  WE NEED TO THANK HIM FOR ANSWERING OUR PRAYERS, EVEN WHEN HE DOES SAY NO.  GOD IS NEVER WRONG AND HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS WORD.  WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE HIM.  DO YOU?

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HOW PATIENT ARE YOU?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"HOW PATIENT ARE YOU?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED UP THE WORD "PATIENCE" IN THE DICTIONARY?  I WAS READING IN ROMANS 5:2 WHERE IT SAYS "TRIBULATION WORKS PATIENCE" AND I GOT TO THINKING THAT PATIENCE MUST MEAN MORE THAN I WAS THINKING.  MY DEFINITION WAS "JUST COOL IT AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS".

I FOUND THAT MY DEFINITION WAS SO FAR OFF WHEN YOU RELATE IT TO THE PATIENCE OF JESUS.  HE WAS TRULY PATIENT.  THINK ABOUT HIM WHEN YOU READ THIS DEFINITION OF PATIENCE.  "The suffering of afflictions, pain, toil, calamity, provocation or other evil, with a calm, unruffled temper; endurance without murmuring or fretfulness."  I FOUND THIS IN NOAH WEBSTER'S 1828 DICTIONARY.

WE NEED TO TAKE HEED TO THE LAST PART OF THIS DEFINITION WHEN WE ARE PRAYING "endurance without murmuring or fretfulness."  WE GET UPSET WHEN WE DON'T SEE THE ANSWER TO OUR PRAYERS IN THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES.  DON'T PUT GOD IN A BOX.  HE SEES THE WHOLE PICTURE AND HE LOVES US AND KNOWS WHEN WE NEED THINGS.  HOWEVER, HE KNOWS THAT THERE ARE SOME THINGS WE DON'T NEED AND IT WOULD BE HARMFUL TO US IF WE HAD THEM.  SO WHEN YOU DON'T GET SOMETHING YOU PRAYED FOR, TRUST IN HIM....HE KNOWS.  HE HAS ANSWERED YOUR PRAYER AND HE JUST SAID NO.  THANK HIM FOR THAT ALSO.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"JESUS PREPARED HIMSELF" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"JESUS PREPARED HIMSELF" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
LUKE 2:46, "And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions."

LUKE 2:41-51

This is the only scriptural record of Jesus' childhood. Yet there is much that we can learn from this brief account.

At twelve years of age, Jesus' wisdom astounded the men who had spent a lifetime studying the scriptures (v. 47). Remember that Jesus did not have full time access to a copy of the scriptures like we do today. He had to depend on His visits to the synagogue and the direct revelation knowledge from His heavenly Father.

He was also asking these scholars questions (v. 46). This is amazing when you realize that in Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge! (Col. 2:3) Although He was God, He inhabited a physical human body that needed to be educated.

He also had a clear understanding at this young age of who His real Father was and exactly why He had come to the world (v. 49). We can only speculate how this must have influenced His childhood.

So we see that Jesus knew His call and purpose even in His early childhood. However, there is no record of miracles or ministry on His part until after His baptism by John at the age of thirty. Preparing a body for God Almighty to manifest Himself through was no small task. Praise God for His great love that caused Him to sacrifice everything for us.

"SPIRITUAL WARFARE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"SPIRITUAL WARFARE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
MATTHEW 2:16, "Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men."

MATTHEW 2:16-23

Satan was the real motivator of Herod's actions. Ever since the Lord first prophesied that a man would bruise his head, Satan has been seeking out this "seed" of the woman (Gen. 3:15).

It appears that Satan is able to perceive when the Lord is making a major move in the earth. In the days of Moses, Satan moved Pharaoh to kill all the male children of the Israelite slaves, and here he motivates Herod to kill all the male children in Bethlehem. No doubt he was seeking to eliminate this "seed" who was going to bruise his head.

Once again, we see children being slaughtered today. This time it's through abortion. Our youth are also being attacked in unprecedented ways. Is it possible that Satan thinks this is the generation that is to bring in the second return of the Lord? Is he, in desperation, trying to stay off his doom by destroying this generation?

We need to have enough spiritual perception to recognize that just as in the days of Moses and Jesus, this slaughter of the innocent children today is an indication of an even more important struggle in the spiritual realm. We might be the generation that sees the Lord come back. Praise the Lord!

"IS YOUR HEART OBEDIENT TO GOD'S COMMAND?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

AREN'T YOU GLAD THAT JESUS CHOSE PAUL TO PREACH HIS GOSPEL TO THE US, THE GENTILES, AND WAS OBEDIENT TO DO IT?  IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, THE 12 DISCIPLES ARE WRITING AND TEACHING THE JEWS, BUT PAUL, IN HIS 13 BOOKS, IS WRITING TO THE GENTILES.  THIS WAS A GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT AMONG THEM WITH JUST A HANDSHAKE.  IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THIS WHEN WE ARE STUDYING THE BIBLE OR IT COULD GET A LITTLE CONFUSING, LOOK WHAT PAUL IS SAYING IN GALATIANS 2:9 "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars (OF THE CHURCH), perceived the grace that was given unto me (BY JESUS), they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we (PAUL AND BARNABAS) should go unto the heathen (GENTILES), and they (JAMES, PETER, JOHN AND THE DISCIPLES) unto the circumcision (THE JEWS)."  THE PARENTHESES ARE MINE.

JESUS APPEARED TO ANANIAS IN A VISION AND TOLD HIM TO GO TO PAUL AND LAY HANDS ON HIM SO HE WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE. HE WAS BLINDED WHEN JESUS APPEARED TO HIM ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS AND TOLD HIM HE WOULD PREACH TO THE GENTILES. PAUL HAD BEEN SO AGAINST JESUS AND THE TEACHING OF THE DISCIPLES AND EVEN HAD PAPERS FROM THE CHIEF PRIEST TO KILL OR THROW INTO PRISON THOSE WHO WERE WORSHIPING JESUS.  IF YOU WERE A JEW AND KNEW ABOUT PAUL'S ACTIVITY, WOULD YOU HAVE BEEN OBEDIENT LIKE ANANIAS WAS?   I HOPE I WOULD HAVE BEEN.  SEE WHAT JESUS TOLD HIM TO DO IN ACTS 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way : for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.  GOD KNEW THE HEARTS OF PAUL AND ANANIAS AND KNEW THEY WOULD BE OBEDIENT.

MY QUESTION IS, IS YOUR HEART OBEDIENT TO GOD'S COMMAND? REMEMBER, HE WILL NOT MAKE YOU DO ANYTHING BUT WANTS A WILLING HEART FULL OF LOVE FOR HIM.  I PRAY THAT WE ALL WILL BE THAT KIND OF PERSON AND THAT GOD WILL USE US IN A MIGHTY WAY.  I AM READY, EVEN AT MY AGE, ARE YOU?

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"WE CAN RELY ON HOLY SPIRIT" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"WE CAN RELY ON HOLY SPIRIT" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

IN STUDYING THE NEW TESTAMENT, HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED WHAT THE DISCIPLES REALLY KNEW ABOUT JESUS?    LET'S THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE. WE KNOW THEY KNEW HE WAS THE CHRIST (MESSIAH) BECAUSE OF WHAT PETER TOLD JESUS.  PETER WAS SORT OF THE SPOKESMAN FOR THE TWELVE AND WHEN JESUS ASK THEM WHO DID MEN SAY THAT HE WAS, THE TWELVE STARTED TELLING JESUS WHO PEOPLE THOUGHT HE WAS LIKE.  SOME SAID JOHN THE BAPTIST, SOME ELIAS, AND OTHERS, ONE OF THE PROPHETS. WHEN JESUS ASK, WHOM DO YOU SAY THAT I AM? PETER SPOKE UP AND SAID IN MATTHEW 16:16 "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

DO YOU THINK THEY KNEW ABOUT HIM GOING TO BE CRUCIFIED? THEY DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE.  DON'T YOU THINK THAT IF THEY HAD KNOWN, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WAITING AT THE TOMB FOR HIM TO COME OUT ON THAT THIRD DAY?  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN LUKE 18:31-34 "Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.  And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken."  AFTER HIM TELLING THEM ALL WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, THEY STILL DIDN'T UNDERSTAND.

HERE IS THE POINT I AM TRYING TO MAKE IN ALL THIS.  ALTHOUGH IT SAYS THIS SAYING WAS HID FROM THEM, IT IS NOT HID FROM US CHRISTIANS.  WE HAVE HOLY SPIRIT WHICH THEY DIDN'T HAVE BECAUSE, AT THAT TIME, HE HAD NOT BEEN SENT TO THEM.  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN JOHN 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance , whatsoever I have said unto you. IF WE COULD JUST FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT WE HAVE IN HOLY SPIRIT, OUR LIVES WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER. RELY ON HOLY SPIRIT. PAUL SAID "for it is the power of God unto salvation".  THIS IS FOR ALL OF US WHO BELIEVE, SO BELIEVE AND RECEIVE.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HEROD'S FOLLY" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-01-19
"HEROD'S FOLLY" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Mt. 2:13, "...for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."

MATTHEW 2:13-15

Herod had ruled over Judaea for nearly forty three years at the time of these events. He had the title of King conferred on him by the Roman senate at the recommendation of Antony and Octavius. His accomplishments included the building of the temple in Jerusalem which was one of the most magnificent structures in the world. Most people would have thought that Herod had it "made".

However, history reveals that Herod was extremely paranoid. He actually killed his wife and one of his sons because he feared they would take the kingdom from him. All his power and fame couldn't buy him the peace that the angels proclaimed (Lk. 2:8-14). His paranoia led him to kill the innocent children in Bethlehem. His insecurity was evident. He had everything and yet he had nothing.

In contrast, the King that Herod was trying to dispose of came humbly, not exalting Himself. He gained the acclaim of others by serving them, not oppressing them. The scepter of Jesus was righteousness; not tyranny. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice; Himself, because of His great love for people.

Today, Herod's only claim to fame is that he was the man who tried in vain to kill the King of Kings. Remember, it is worth nothing if you gain the whole world and lose your own soul (Mt. 16:26). Make today count for God.

"PEACE BETWEEN GOD AND MAN" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"PEACE BETWEEN GOD AND MAN" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

I'LL BET THAT IF YOU ASK A HUNDRED PEOPLE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU WHAT PROPITIATION MEANS, NOT MANY WILL KNOW THE ANSWER. DO YOU?  I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I LOOKED IT UP.  I KNEW IT WAS IN CONNECTION WITH JESUS GOING TO THE CROSS AND THAT HE IS THE PROPITIATION FOR THE SINS OF THE WORLD, BECAUSE THE BIBLE TELL US THAT, BUT I DIDN'T REALLY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE WORD MEANT.

WELL, HERE IT IS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE LIKE ME. PROPITIATION - 1. The act of appeasing wrath and conciliating the favor of an offended person. 2. In theology, the atonement or atoning sacrifice offered to God to assuage his wrath and render him propitious to sinners. Christ is the propitiation for the sins of men. JESUS REALLY DID APPEASE THE WRATH BETWEEN GOD AND MAN.

AS IT SAYS IN LUKE 2:13-14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  IT IS NOT TALKING HERE ABOUT PEACE BEING AMONG MEN ON EARTH BECAUSE JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW 10:34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."  THE PEACE THAT JESUS BROUGHT WAS BETWEEN GOD AND MAN.  BECAUSE OF JESUS WE CAN NOW GO BOLDLY TO THE THROWN OF GOD AND TALK DIRECTLY TO HIM.  BEFORE THIS WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT BECAUSE OF OUR SINS, BUT JESUS TOOK THOSE SINS AWAY.  NOW GOD SEES US AS JESUS IS, SINLESS. (1 JOHN 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.)

SO, IF YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR PEACE BETWEEN YOU AND SOMEONE YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH JUST REMEMBER THIS.  IT IS UP TO YOU TO HAVE THAT PEACE. JESUS TELLS US IN JOHN 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."  WE HAVE THE PEACE OF JESUS AND WE CAN ACCEPT IT OR REJECT IT.  WITH HIS PEACE, YOUR HEART WILL BE AT PEACE AND NOT AFRAID.  IT IS ALL UP TO US.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"BELIEVE THE WORD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-01-18
"BELIEVE THE WORD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK
Matthew 2:1, "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem."

MATTHEW 2:1-12

How could this be? The greatest event in the history of God's dealings with mankind was taking place and the leaders of God's people didn't even know about it. Foreigners who were unfamiliar with the covenants of God perceived what God was doing more than His own chosen people! (Eph. 2:12)

The apparent answer to this is that these Persian wise men were more in tune to the prophecies of scripture than the Jews were. Daniel had been promoted to be the head of all the wise men of Babylon (Dan. 2:48). While in Babylon, Daniel had come through the lions' den victoriously and had no doubt gained the reputation as the greatest wise man of all (Dan. 6).

It was during this time that Daniel wrote the prophecy of Dan. 9:24-27, which pinpointed the time of the Messiah's birth. This no doubt provided the inspiration for these wise men. The star simply served as a sign that the prophesied event had come and directed them towards where the king was born.

The Jews had these same prophecies. They just weren't waiting in anticipation for the birth of the Messiah. The Word of God only profits us if we believe it (Heb. 4:2). Let's not make the same mistake. Mix the truths that you know from God's Word with faith.
