Stewards Of God's Grace
July 15th
Luke 12:42 'And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his Lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?'
LUKE 12:42
A steward is a person who has been entrusted with administering someone else's wealth or affairs. The possessions a steward controls are not his own and he does not have the freedom to do with them as he wishes. He is supposed to carry out the desires of the one who made him steward.
A banker is a steward. He has been entrusted with other people's money. He is free to invest that money wisely in a way that will benefit his depositors and stockholders, but would be sent to jail if...
The Goodness Of God
July 14th
Luke 12:5 'But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.'
LUKE 12:4-5
Second Timothy 1:7 says, 'God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' First John 4:18 says, 'There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.' These scriptures may look like they are contradictions to Jesus' statement here; however, they are not.
There are two kinds of fear. The American Heritage Dictionary defines fear as 'a feeling of alarm or disquiet caused by the...
Hypocrisy Is.....
July 13th
Luke 12:1 'In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.'
LUKE 12:1-3
This is the biblical definition of a hypocrite, 'someone whose words and heart (actions) don't agree.' A hypocrite may act the part of a Christian or talk like Christ, but he or she won't do both. Hypocrisy is defined by the dictionary as, 'The feigning of beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; insincerity' (American Heritage Dictionary). In the Greek, the word is 'hupokrisis' and means...
FACEBOOK BROUGHT THIS MESSAGE UP AS ONE OF MY MEMORIES AND IT GOT ME TO THINKING. WAS I REALLY READY? AS FAR AS GOING TO HEAVEN, I HAVE NO DOUBTS, BUT, HAVE I DONE ALL I CAN FOR JESUS? I HAVE DECIDED TO SPEND MORE OF MY TIME IN TELLING MORE PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE HE HAS FOR ALL OF US AND SPENDING MORE TIME WITH HIM. I WOULD LOVE TO BE SPENDING TIME WITH HIM AS HE IS COMING FOR US ALL.
DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT THE POWER OF GOD IS? ROMANS 1:16 SAYS IT IS THE GOSPEL. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE GOSPEL IS? 1ST CORINTHIANS 15:3 SAYS IT IS THAT JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS, WAS BURIED AND ROSE AGAIN AND THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN ORDER TO BE BORN AGAIN AND IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN, YOU HAVE THE POWER OF GOD.
Jesus, The Wisdom Of God
July 12th
Luke 11:49 'Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute.'
LUKE 11:46-49
This phrase 'Therefore also said the wisdom of God,' is a part of Luke's narrative and not the words of Jesus. Luke is saying that Jesus is the wisdom of God, a truth well-established in scripture.
There is no way to access the wisdom of God except through Jesus. Until a person receives Christ, he is missing the only source of true wisdom. Men and women are incapable of receiving the wisdom of God, but those who submit themselves to God have access to the wisdom of God on their own, through the Holy Spirit. We...
Holiness Is A Fruit
July 11th
Luke 11:42 'But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done and not to leave the other undone.'
LUKE 11:42-44
When Jesus said, 'and not to leave the other undone,' it is clear that He is not arguing against doing what is right. God's Word stresses holiness in our actions. The Pharisees' error that caused Jesus' rebuke was that they believed their actions could produce a right relationship with God. But a proper relationship with God can only come by humbling ourselves and putting faith in a Savior, who is Jesus. God cleanses our hearts by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8) and...
WHAT WOULD YOU GIVE UP FOR JESUS? WOULD YOU GIVE UP YOUR HOME? WHAT ABOUT YOUR JOB? IF HE ASKED YOU TO MOVE TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY TO PREACH HIS WORD, WOULD YOU DO IT? THESE ARE QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE TO ANSWER ONE DAY. I HAVE OFTEN THOUGHT OF WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE WHEN I WAS YOUNGER IF HE ASK ME TO GO. I WILL HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I DON'T THINK I WOULD HAVE. I WAS NOT THAT STRONG IN HIS WORD AND I DIDN'T KNOW THEN WHAT I DO NOW AND I CAN SAY, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, THAT, EVEN AT AGE OF 80, IF HE TOLD ME TO GO, I WOULD, BECAUSE I KNOW HE WOULD EQUIP ME WITH WHATEVER I NEEDED.
