"THE FAITH TO FORGIVE" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2021-08-20

THE FAITH TO FORGIVE

I BELIEVE THE BASIS FOR FORGIVENESS IS THE LOVE AND GRACE THAT GOD HAS FOR US. 1ST JOHN 4:19 SAYS "We love him, because he first loved us." ALSO, EPHESIANS 2:8 SAYS "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

IT IS ONLY BECAUSE GOD FIRST LOVED AND FORGAVE US THAT WE CAN LOVE AND FORGIVE OTHERS. HOW CAN WE MINISTER FORGIVENESS TO OTHERS IF WE ARE NOT WALKING IN THE FORGIVENESS OF GOD?...

One Flesh

Matthew 19:5 'And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?'

MATTHEW 19:3-5

What does it mean for a man and a woman to become 'one flesh?' The act of sexual intercourse between a man and a woman produces this one flesh relationship. Whether or not the man and woman ever cleave to each other in marriage; the physical act still binds them together as one flesh.

This is the reason that sexual relationships outside of marriage (whether extra-marital or pre-marital) are so damaging. Whether or not individuals get caught, pregnant or ever hurt anyone else with their sin, they are doing a lot of damage to themselves. There is a relationship that...

RIGHTEOUS ANGER

IS IT A SIN TO GET ANGRY? JESUS DID. THE JEWS' PASSOVER WAS AT HAND AND IN THE TEMPLE THE MONEY CHANGERS WERE GATHERED. THESE WERE JEWS WHO EXCHANGED THE PEOPLE'S MONEY SO THEY COULD BUY THEIR OFFERING. A LOT OF WORSHIPERS HAD COME FROM MILES AWAY AND INSTEAD OF BRINGING THEIR OFFERINGS, THEY BOUGHT THEM IN THE TEMPLE.

JESUS GOT ANGRY AND MADE A WHIP AND DROVE THE MONEY CHANGERS OUT OF THE TEMPLE, TURNING OVER...

ABSTAIN FROM ALL APPEARANCES OF EVIL

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU DONE SOMETHING WRONG (SINNED) AND HOPED NO ONE SAW YOU? I HAVE MANY TIMES, IN MY PAST, AND HAD TO ASK GOD TO FORGIVE ME. THAT STILL DID NOT MAKE IT OK.

WHAT IF A YOUNG CHRISTIAN, WHO POSSIBLY LOOKED UP TO ME, SAW ME AND IT CAUSED HIM OR HER TO QUESTION THEIR BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE?

THE REASON I MENTION THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE SCRIPTURE MATTHEW 18:6 WHERE IT SAYS "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and...

"DIVORCE IS NOT GOD'S BEST" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Divorce Is Not God's Best

Mark 10:2 'And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.'

MARK 10:2-6

The Pharisees didn't really want to know what Jesus taught on divorce and remarriage. They didn't value His opinion but were tempting Him and desired to get Him mired in the big dispute of their day between liberal and conservative views on divorce. This was a very emotional issue then, just as it is today, and they thought they had Jesus in a 'no win' situation.

However, as always, Jesus proved to be more than their match and He gave them much more than they asked for.

The Pharisees didn't question whether or not divorce was right. They took the right to divorce for...

"RIGHTEOUSNESS IS A GIFT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Righteousness Is A Gift

Luke 18:9 'And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:'

LUKE 18:9-14

People who are self-righteous often despise others. No one can compare himself with God's perfect standard and feel good about himself. To trust in ourselves, we have to constantly compare ourselves with others. This breeds a critical attitude towards others that exalts self by debasing others.

No one can ever be righteous in the sight of God through his own righteousness. Our actions benefit us in relationships with people and prevent Satan from having an opportunity against us, but they cannot make us right (righteous) with God. We must trust in God and receive His...

THE POWER OF GOD

DO YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING REALLY EXCEPTIONAL TODAY? GO TO SOMEONE WHO IS SICK AND HEAL THEM. IF YOU ARE BORN-AGAIN, YOU HAVE THAT POWER. YOU AND I KNOW THAT IT IS THROUGH JESUS THAT WE GET THIS POWER BUT IF WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE IT, HE WOULD NOT HAVE TOLD US TO. "MATTHEW 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." OUR PROBLEM IS NOT THAT WE DON'T THINK JESUS CAN HEAL, WE ARE JUST NOT SURE HE WILL DO IT FOR US.

FAITH...WE ALL HAVE IT

A FRIEND AND I WERE TALKING THE OTHER DAY AND HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM. I SAID USE YOUR FAITH AND BELIEVE GOD'S PROMISES. HE SAID THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY FAITH. I ASKED HIM IF HE BELIEVED THE BIBLE. I KNEW HE WAS A CHRISTIAN, AND HE SAID CERTAINLY. THEN HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU HAVE NO FAITH. I SAID YOU HAVE THE SAME FAITH AS EVERYONE ELSE. HE SAID HE DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT. I ASK HIM AGAIN, DO YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE. IT SAYS IN ROMANS 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

God Answers Prayer

Luke 18:7 'And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? '

LUKE 18:1-8

This is not an exact comparison of God to this unjust judge, teaching us that we should badger God until we weary Him and He grants us our request.

Rather, Jesus is contrasting His willingness to answer our prayers with this unjust judge's unwillingness. The parable is a contrast, not a representation.

Not only do we have God who is a just judge who will avenge His elect speedily, but we also have Jesus as our advocate or attorney who is always making intercession for us. However, we have an adversary (the devil) who is constantly accusing us and misrepresenting God (the...

Like A Thief In The Night

Luke 17:24 'For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.'

LUKE 17:24-31

This scripture and the parallel scripture in Matthew 24:27 make it very clear that the second return of Jesus will be no secret to anyone. In Matthew's account, it is especially clear that this statement about the lightning was made so that we wouldn't be deceived by false Christs. Just as lightning is visible to everyone, so the second return of Jesus will be witnessed by the whole world. That's the reason we don't have to be fearful about missing His second coming and anxiously follow every report that Christ has come.
