"THE LAW" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"THE LAW" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

DID YOU KNOW THAT GOD GAVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS TO SHOW THE PEOPLE JUST HOW BAD THEY WERE.  THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE CALL "THE LAW" AND BEFORE THE LAW, MEN WERE SINNING BUT DID NOT KNOW IT.  (ROMANS 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.)  THE LAW SHOWED PEOPLE WHAT SIN WAS AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO CHANGE.

BEFORE THE LAW, PEOPLE'S SINS WERE NOT IMPUTED (OR CHARGED) AGAINST THEM. (ROMANS 5:13 For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.) ISN'T IT FUNNY THAT WHEN WE ARE TOLD WE CAN'T DO SOMETHING WE WANT TO DO IT THAT MUCH MORE. LOOK WHAT PAUL SAYS IN ROMANS 7:8 "But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead." I DID NOT KNOW...

"GOD LIKES US" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"GOD LIKES US" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Matthew 18:14 "Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish."

MATTHEW 18:12-14

One of the greatest truths of the Bible and also one of the hardest to comprehend, is that we are the objects of God's love. God didn't just pity us or feel some sense of moral obligation to save us. He saved us because of His infinite love for us (Jn. 3:16).

God loves people. He even loves those who have gone astray. As Jesus said in a similar parable (Lk. 15:7), "I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance."

Once we experience the life-changing power of Christ, there is a tendency to become harsh and impatient with others who continue to live their lives without Him. We sometimes forget that it was the love and goodness of...

"PRAYER" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN CHURCH WHEN THE PREACHER CALLED ON SOMEONE IN THE CONGREGATION TO PRAY?  HAS THE PRAYER EVER BEEN SO LONG THAT YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD NEVER END?  I KNOW I HAVE.  THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT PRAY MEANINGFUL PRAYERS AND THEN THERE ARE THE OTHER ONES AND IF YOU LISTEN TO THEIR PRAYERS YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE NOT REALLY PRAYING TO GOD BUT PRAYING SO THE CONGREGATION WILL THINK THEY ARE VERY RELIGIOUS.

I WILL GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.  IF SOMEONE IS PRAYING AND SAYS "I JUST ASK GOD THAT HE WILL PUT A SPECIAL BLESSING ON US TODAY".  SOUND GOOD?  WELL, IF YOU ARE PRAYING TO GOD, WHY WOULD YOU SAY "I JUST ASK GOD TO PUT A SPECIAL BLESSING ON US TODAY" INSTEAD OF SAYING "GOD,...

"ANGELIC PROTECTION" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"ANGELIC PROTECTION" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Matthew 18:10 "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."

MATTHEW 18:10-11

We have angels assigned to us. Hebrews 1:14 further reveals that their purpose is to minister to us (i.e. on our behalf). In the Old Testament, Psalm 91 teaches on the ministry of angels to God's people.

Some have realized this truth and have taken it even further to say that we are supposed to speak to our angels and they will obey our commands. There is no instruction in scripture to do this nor is there any example of it being done. Many of the angels' protective duties described in Psalm 91 are preventative, and we certainly could not effectively command these activities.

Rather, these angels are dispatched exactly as this verse describes - by looking at the Father's face....

"OUR GREATEST TREASURES" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

"OUR GREATEST TREASURES" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

TIMOTHY SAYS IN 1ST TIMOTHY 6:10 THAT "The love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."  WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THINGS WE WISH FOR AND WANT FOR OUR FAMILIES, IS THAT COVETING?

LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT "COVETING" FOR A MINUTE.  THE DICTIONARY HAS THREE DEFINITIONS FOR COVET SO LET'S LOOK AT EACH ONE SEPARATELY.

1) To desire wrongfully, inordinately, or without due regard for the rights of others.
 2) To have an inordinate or wrongful desire.
IN MY OPINION THESE TWO DEFINITIONS WOULD BE SINNING.

3) To wish for, especially eagerly.
THIS ONE IS THE ONE I FEEL MOST OF US ARE DOING.

THE DICTIONARY SAYS THAT A WISH IS "to desire".  I HAVE A DESIRE TO HELP MY FAMILY AND OTHERS THAT NEED IT AND PSALM 37:4 SAYS TO...

"HUMILITY BEFORE HONOR" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"HUMILITY BEFORE HONOR" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Matthew 18:4 "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

MATTHEW 18:1-5; MARK 9:30-37; LUKE 9:46-48

It is interesting that Jesus used a little child to illustrate humility. Although it is true that little children have a purity and humility that is many times missing in adults, they certainly are not selfless. A child comes into the world totally self-centered, wanting what he wants when he wants it. Parents are to train children out of this self-centeredness.

One of humility's dominant characteristics is a God-dependency and not a self-sufficiency. The truth of humility being the key to greatness or success was not new. Jesus gave this truth new meaning by walking in humility as no one ever had before.

This path of self-denial to greatness is exactly opposite to the world's path of exalting self at...

Why did Jesus have to come to earth as a man to save us? And if it was necessary for Him to come, why did God wait 4,000 years to send Him? These are important questions, and the Bible does a great job in answering them. It's just that many of us haven't taken the time to look.

"ONE HUNDRED TIMES ZERO" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

"ONE HUNDRED TIMES ZERO" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Matthew 17:27 "Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money; that take, and give unto them for me and thee."

MATTHEW 17:24-27

This was quite a miracle. Not only was the money supplied for their taxes, but it was the exact amount needed, and it was from the first fish that was caught.

Although this sets the precedent that God can supply our needs in a miraculous way, it's important to remember that God doesn't counterfeit money. He didn't create money in the fish, but rather he had the fish miraculously find and swallow the exact Roman coin that Peter needed. It's a mistake to just pray and then wait on God to rain the money down from heaven.

As Luke 6:38 says, God uses men (and sometimes fish) to give finances to us. He can...
