Money used to be my God

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2012-01-01

A lot of us in our early years with Christ find that we are self centered instead of being God centered. We do not allow certain parts of Christ into our relationship because it does not fit into our everyday life. We have to learn to re-align our thoughts and meditate on what it is that is controlling our everyday living and decide what is more important, God, or whatever it is that is that is slowing our journey with him.

It could be that our God is “Money” because we want the latest technology, holiday’s, latest trends in fashion etc. We have this built-in fear that keeps telling us that we must make as much money as possible in the shortest time possible so that we can then relax and enjoy it’s rewards.

Make money your god and it will plague you like the devil. This was once said by the novelist “Henry Fielding” but you only have to look at the scriptures where you will find dozens of mentions about money.

God is not for sale:

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2012-01-10

I have met people in my life that have stated that they are Christians and yet the lifestyles that they lead leave a lot to be desired. They are always trying to outdo neighbours with bigger and flashier cars, more expensive holidays abroad, better jobs, bigger houses, buying the latest gadgets, bigger TV's etc. etc. Some even brag about knowing people in high places in society and that they can get things done that others cannot. I know some of them actually read the bible, some will memorize some of the scriptures, give a £ ($) or two to street beggars, and I know of one who will even give handouts to some of the needy at Christmas. Because they go to church now and then when it suits them, and that they give donations to their church, they think that they are saved and have the right to call themselves Christians. Well guys, I've got news for you. It doesn't quite work that way.

God is not for sale:

KONY2012 Invisible Children

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2012-03-07

Hi all, I have just watched the 30 minute video about Joseph Kony and how he kidnaps children and turns them against their parents and other children. It's horrendous to see that this has been going on for some twenty years now and hundreds have been mutilated and killed, and our goverenments have done nothing about it. I think when you watch the video, you will be very mindful about your children and know just how lucky we are not to live near this madman. You can view it here at this link.

Bag Of Excuses.

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2012-06-15

Some of us walk around with a bag full of excuses when it comes to spending time with God. We make excuses for just about everything and anything which we tend to blame on distractions.

Kids to get to school, shopping to do, clean up the house, wash the car, fill it up with petrol, got to go and play golf, there’s a program on TV I want to see? My partner is not a believer, (love that one) Haven’t got enough time, Etc. Etc. Etc.  Don’t let your mind get in the way! Don’t let Satan change your thoughts! Don’t make excuses! Make Time.

(Let’s look at time)

TIME: We all have the same 24 hours in a day, it’s just that some of us make the best use of it while others waste it procrastinating about what to do and when to do it. Am just as bad, although I have now learned to plan my work, and work my plan. Like many, I made too many excuses about what might happen if I didn’t do this or that,...

AND THEN IT’S WINTER

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2013-03-24

You know. . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

But, here it is…my friends are retired and getting grey…they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me…but, I see the great change…Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant…but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we’d be. Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore… it’s mandatory! Cause if I don’t on my own free will… I just fall asleep where I sit!

Prayer & Forgiveness

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2013-04-13

God does not get rushed. He is never pressured. He can however be talked into good things - it's called prayer. We have to be a believer and have faith to receive whatever we ask for in prayer. The power of prayer is an awesome tool.

Saying things like "There's no hope," tells God He doesn't have the power to fix your situation. Nothing is beyond His repair.

Ipersonally believe that some of us don’t hear voices, but we get instincts and signs that guide us to the answer of some of our prayers.

Wishing for things will never be a substitute for praying for things.

See Matthew 21:22

When we pray, believe that we will receive.

Keep saying to yourself: “I believe and I receive” Joy and pleasure come with believing, so make sure you keep praying for the right things. (Not just the bad things in life, but the good)

We need to...

A poem about humanity

By William Adams (rockabillie), 2013-04-14

Kate, the writer of this poem, was unable to speak, but was occasionally seen to write. After her death, her hospital locker was emptied and this poem was found.

Kate

What do you see nurses
What do you see?
Are you thinking
when you are looking at me
A crabbit old woman
not very wise,
Uncertain of habit
with far-away eyes,
Who dribbles her food
and makes no reply,
When you say in a loud voice
‘I do wish you’d try’
Who seems not to notice
the things that you do,
And forever is losing
a stocking or shoe,
