"EMBRACE THE HOLY SPIRIT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-10-25

Embrace The Holy Spirit

John 16:7 'Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.'

The Greek word translated 'expedient' means 'to be an advantage; profitable.'

How could any situation be more advantageous or profitable than having Jesus physically with you?

When Jesus walked on this earth in His physical body, He was subject to many physical limitations. For instance, He could not always be with every one of His disciples all the time. Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, He could. Instead of Satan getting rid of Jesus, 120...

"EXPECT PERSECUTION" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Expect Persecution

John 15:19 'If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.'

We should not think it is strange to be persecuted. 'All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution' (2 Tim. 3:12). We can actually rejoice because we are being persecuted for Jesus' sake, and the Lord will be with us in the midst of the persecution. When we stand before Him, there will be more than ample reward.

Persecution is a token that those persecuting you are under conviction. They realize that they are not living what your words or actions are...

"WHO IS HANDLING YOUR PROBLEMS?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

WHO IS HANDLING YOUR PROBLEMS?

ARE YOU SO STRESSED THAT YOU HAVE TO TAKE A PILL TO GET YOU THROUGH THE DAY?  I HAVE A BETTER PILL FOR YOU TO TAKE AND IT IS CALLED THE GOSPEL.  THERE ARE SO MANY SCRIPTURES IN THE BIBLE TO TAKE CARE OF ALL OUR PROBLEMS IF WE WOULD JUST READ THEM AND HAVE FAITH TO...

DO YOU REALLY STUDY GOD'S WORD?

PEOPLE HAVE ASKED HOW THEY CAN DISCERN GOOD FROM EVIL WHEN IT IS NOT SO OBVIOUS.  IN TALKING TO THEM, I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SOME OF THEM DIDN'T KNOW WHAT DISCERNMENT MEANS?  THE DICTIONARY SAYS IT IS "the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure; an act of perceiving something; a power to see what is not evident to...

"OUR LIFE IS IN HIM" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Our Life Is In Him

John 15:4 'Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.'

This is a profound truth, that is the key to bearing fruit, but it is so easy to forget. Because the fruit is borne on the branch, it is easy to credit the branch with the fruit, when it is the vine that drew the life from the earth and channeled it through the branch.

Likewise, since we are the branch through which the life of God flows, we sometimes think that it is our own holiness that produces the fruit. The moment we think that way, we are no longer abiding (trusting in; clinging to) in the vine and...

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT OUR LANGUAGE?

"LET GOD PRUNE YOU HIS WAY" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2019-10-22

Let God Prune You His Way

John 15:2 'Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.'

This purging has been interpreted in many ways. The illustration that Jesus is using is one of pruning; therefore, some have said this purging is a very painful process where the Lord cuts and slashes us through things like sickness, death, poverty, and other forms of tragedy so that eventually we will bear more fruit. This teaching not only promotes problems as being good, but necessary, if we want to bear more fruit.

That thinking is not consistent with the rest of God's Word or even the...

"THE PROMISES OF GOD" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

THE PROMISES OF GOD

I WRITE A LOT ABOUT GOD'S PROMISES BUT HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED THEM UP FOR YOURSELF TO SEE JUST WHAT THEY ARE?  IF YOU HAVEN'T, YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR YOU.  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN 2ND PETER 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  IF WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE GREAT AND PRECIOUS PROMISES ARE, HOW CAN WE EXPECT TO ESCAPE THE CORRUPTION.  IT SEEMS THAT GOD'S PROMISES AND OUR FAITH NEEDS TO BE CLOSELY ENTWINED IF WE HAVE ANY...

"JESUS IN THE FLESH" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Jesus In The Flesh

John 14:28 'Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.'

Jesus stated His union with the Father so clearly that He was accused of blasphemy more than once. This statement about the Father being greater than Jesus must harmonize, not contradict other claims.

A key to understanding this is given in Philippians 2:6-8, where Paul states that Jesus didn't think it was robbery to be equal with God, but humbled Himself, taking on the form of a servant (speaking of His humanity). Jesus was equal to God in His divine nature but He...

LET GOD MAKE THE CHOICE FOR YOU

SOME PEOPLE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I WROTE ON THIS LAST YEAR SO I AM GOING TO TRY TO EXPLAIN IT A LITTLE CLEARER THIS TIME.  HAVE YOU EVER PUT GOD IN A BOX?  BY THAT, I MEAN HAVE YOU EVER ASK HIM IF HE WANTED YOU TO DO "THIS" OR DID HE WANT YOU TO DO "THAT" INSTEAD.  JUST MAYBE HE DIDN'T WANT YOU TO DO EITHER ONE BUT YOU DID NOT GIVE HIM A THIRD CHOICE.

I THINK PETER IS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF SOMEONE THAT DID THIS IN SCRIPTURE.  LET'S JUST LOOK AT IT REAL QUICK.  IN MATTHEW 14:28 HE DID WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT AND I WILL EXPLAIN.  WHEN JESUS TOLD HIS DISCIPLES TO TAKE THE BOAT AND GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA, A GREAT STORM CAME UP AND THE BOAT WAS BEING TOSSED AROUND.  KNOWING THIS, JESUS WENT OUT WALKING ON THE WATER TO THE...
