Jesus two major sermons and major teachings bible study
This is a bible study consisting of the Sermon on the Mount and also the teaching in John to His disciples just before Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins. I am led to highlight them in the hopes that these words of Jesus help build you up, grow you in your faith, even help some people who would want to know Jesus for the first time, accepting Him as their personal Lord and Savior.
In chapters 5, 6, and 7 of Matthew, Jesus presents the very powerful Sermon on the Mount to his disciples and the crowd following, climbing a mountain in order to present the sermon. In the sermon he gives much powerful advice to everyone, even today over what is blessed, what to do, to trust in God and to follow Jesus, doing the will of the Father for that is key to getting in to Heaven. I am going to present these chapters all together without any comment in between...
Jesus other teachings bible study
Here is a bible study covering many of Jesus’ other important teachings, which have significant life impact aspects for all of us today, as it did no doubt for the original hearers. Some have parables in them, as parables were a favorite teaching tool of Jesus, and some are discussions with the Jews and also His disciples whom were often present with Him as He taught whom He was with at the time. This study is a sampling of the teachings that Jesus used on various topics, some of which are more discussions with others than teachings
Here in Matthew chapter 13 Jesus shares a quite a few different parables concerning different aspects of the Kingdom of Heaven and its value and Jesus also explains some of the parables for His disciples and our sake
(Matthew 13:1) That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.
(Matthew 13:2) And...
Jesus appearances study after the gospels
Here is a study of how Jesus was such a powerful influence to the early forming church outside of the gospels. This study includes the ones in acts where He gives a final charge to the Apostles Paul’s conversion, His coming to Peter by visionand more, especially including John and the book of Revelation which prophesies many events of the future.
The first situation is Jesus addressing the apostles in Acts 1 including angels appearing to the disciples promising Jesus’ return
(Acts 1:1) In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach,
(Acts 1:2) until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.
(Acts 1:3) He presented himself alive to them after his...
Laziness and diligence a bible teaching
This is a teaching and bible study that encourages people to be diligent and productive and not to be lazy at all. The bible uses the terms sloth, slothful and sluggard even lazy to indicate one who is, indeed lazy. There are many scriptures in the proverbs and even some in Ecclesiastes which drive the point with warnings to not be lazy but indeed be diligent for there are blessings for diligence, home very well, and even also scriptures in the New Testament, with parables told be Jesus and more.
I am starting this study with a warning verse from Ecclesiastes
(Ecclesiastes 10:18) Through sloth the roof sinks in, and through indolence the house leaks.
This is a powerful warning and so is this proverb group in chapter 24 which is related in ways, for the guy let is vineyard decay and be overrun with weeds because of his...
Anger- a bible study
I am led to do a bible study generally to speak out against anger for it very often leads to all manner of other ills, including unforgiveness, hatred, slander, even assault and murder if left unchecked. There are times where anger can be righteous, and it often anger is a totally understandable human reaction when one is hurt and/or offended by someone often by their often careless and thoughtless words and/or actions, which can hurt or grieve someone, sometimes quite severly. So we need to try to not provoke anger in others by our own careless, thoughtless and unloving actions and words.
Here is the scripture that illustrates why anger is bad
(James 1:19) Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
(James 1:20) for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
I am also...
Creation, fall of man and the flood bible study
Now I am led to do a series of bible studies based on the old testament books, starting with Genesis. I am going to start this with the very start of the bible too, with God’s creation and then fall, and flood, and the repopulation of the earth after the flood up to the tower of Babel incident and afterwards all the way up to the birth of Abram (Abraham). This bible study therefore includes the first 11 chapters of Genesis
In Genesis chapter 1 God creates the earth and all that is in it including man, giving man dominion over all else on the planet, letting man use them for food and other needs
(Genesis 1:1) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
(Genesis 1:2) The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the...
