life application bible study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-12

Christian walk life application bible study

I want to be sure that people are careful and mindful of the purposes of our being saved. I also want people to be mindful of their Christian walk, too, that they do all things to glorify God. I hope people find this encouraging. It is pretty long but this is intended as a bible study so it can be done over bit by bit, as there is A LOT of scripture included. I am going to start this discussion and study in Ephesians chapter 2, which states how we were dead by our trespasses but God saved us by His grace and mercy :

(Ephesians 2:1)  And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

(Ephesians 2:2)  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--

(Ephesians 2:3)  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the...

people today and what it means bible study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-13

People today and what it means bible study

I am doing my next teaching study on the way people are today, the way people are becoming more and more self-centered. Society is turning increasingly away from God and doing just what pleases them often without any care for others. The bible did indeed prophesy it in several places and what it means to all, especially the good news today’s evil means to Christians. To start out I will say that today’s attitude is nothing really new. In two separate places in Judges there is the following scripture

(Judges 17:6)  In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

The other verse being Judges chapter 21, verse 25, both of which are identical in what they say

Next the first 25 verses of Isaiah chapter 5, though written about Judah and Israel, especially Judah in the time of Manasseh their evilest king, are very true and applicable to...

Seven notable miracles of the bible

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-14

Seven Notable miracles in the bible- A study

I am now led to do a study on seven notable miracles in the bible. There are far more than seven miracles in the bible, but these seven have caught my attention the most, so I have decided to feature them. All show how awesome, powerful and mighty our God really is, yet how merciful He can be too, and that He is always worthy of our praise, honor, gloray, and obedience each and every day.

Creation

This is the very first miracle, rather a series of miracles which brought all the earth, the features on the earth, the animals, plants and so forth into existence, then eventually mankind into existence. I am using both chapters one and two of Genesis to recount this story in full:

(Genesis 1:1)  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

(Genesis 1:2)  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was...

Miracles of Jesus bible study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-14

                                                 Miracles of Jesus bible study

In this bible study that the Lord led me to do are six of the notable miracles that Jesus did in his ministry on the earth, one, His raising that happened to Him, and the Rapture of His bride which is one that He has yet to do, but I believe it could be very, very soon. They are not in chronological order. I could go much further with this topic but I just want to give an idea of just how powerful His ministry really was. It is impossible actually to write all down. Look at what John wrote at the very end of the gospel of John:

(John 21:24)  This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

(John 21:25)  Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be...

seven bible stories study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-15

                                                Seven bible stories study

Here are seven inspirational stories from the bible- there are no doubt many more, but these seven show how good God is at providing, caring for and delivering His children from all sorts of trying and adverse situations and conditions

1 Joseph in Egypt This story is illustrative of how God uses people, in this situation Joseph, to ensure that people are supplied during a very grievous famine which was not only in Egypt but the whole region so that people came to Egypt in search of food.

(Genesis 41:1)  After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile,

(Genesis 41:2)  and behold, there came up out of the Nile seven cows attractive and plump, and they fed in the reed grass.

(Genesis 41:3)  And behold, seven other cows, ugly and thin, came up out of the Nile after them, and stood by the other cows on the bank of the Nile.

Deliverance bible study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-16

                                    Deliverance bible study

I am led to do a bible study where God delivers various people from differing situations be it from His judgment on an evil society, from an enemy nation, from invasions, and so on. God did this as He loved people, and wanted to save some of the people even though the actions of all of the other people may have sorely grieved Him, as in some of the cases. The first story is a strong example of that: Noah’s flood

Noah and family from the great flood

Here is the story of how God delivered Noah and his family, with some animals from the flood which He used to destroy the wicked earth at that time, which had become extremely evil.

(Genesis 6:1)  When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them,

(Genesis 6:2)  the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.

signs of the end times bible studies

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-17

Signs of the end times bible study

I am led to do a study of how I am strongly led to believe we are in the very end of times and what it means for each and every one of us living. I am going to start with Matthew 24 which I feel is Jesus strongest prophecy of the end times, plus also it has warnings for each and every one of us.

(Matthew 24:1)  Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.

(Matthew 24:2)  But he answered them, "You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."

(Matthew 24:3)  As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?"

(Matthew 24:4)  And Jesus answered them,...

grace as opposed to sin bible study

By James J Dougherty, 2013-04-18

Grace as opposed to sin and the flesh

I am going to show you that grace, what we are saved by no means is a get out of jail card in as far as resisting sin, and the sometimes very intense cravings of the flesh. I know how hard it can to resist the flesh and temptations be but I really don’t want to give in to my flesh’s demands and the like either, and grieve God and the Holy Spirit.

I am going to start this bible study with a good chapter on grace and its purposes in saving believers and their lives.

(Ephesians 2:1)  And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

(Ephesians 2:2)  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--

(Ephesians 2:3)  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the...
